Able Gunite

Very professional and quality work.

We had gotten several estimates on our inground pool that had been filled in by the previous owners. Mike Detota, the owners' son came out, looked at it, took some measurements and assured us that if we used Abel that our pool would look brand new. All we had left of the original pool that hadn't been destroyed during the fill in was the shell. Fortunately, we were able to use the concrete pad for the equipment, and even the existing plumbing, as they held pressure! I can't express my gratitude and appreciation to this company and all the guys that came out and gave us the pool of our dreams! A super special Thank You goes to Mike, Kenny, Chris and Tim! The owner Mike came out very promptly and took measurements of the pool and was able to give me an estimate after running his calculations.  He was completely professional and very friendly.  I knew that selecting a contractor of any sort can be a daunting task, but after hearing so many good things about his company and finally getting to meet him, that I wanted Able Gunite to do the job.  
     Shortly thereafter, I had selected my pool plaster color as well as what tile I desired.  I went to their office and looked at many samples they had to help me make my selection.  I was amazed at how quickly after making my selection that they were able to start work.  They ordered the tile and within just a day or so, they were at my house with a crew and work had begun.  The crew worked so hard and so diligently that I was astounded.  Every day they worked, they completely cleaned up and left the place as spotless as possible.  After just a few days, the old nasty pond that once was there was replaced with a hollow shell that was cleaned, retiled, had a complete surface prep done to it, and was ready for new plaster.  The day the plaster was applied, I was able to see a true miracle take place.  The pool looked perfect! It was looking great and I could hardly wait for it to fill up with water. 
    Let me say this, selecting a contractor can be a scary proposition, especially in regard to swimming pools.  I was a bit apprehensive about doing this as I do most work myself but this job was most certainly beyond my DIY abilities.  I can say, very sincerely, that Able Gunite is the way to go.  They are completely professional, hard working, and they are true craftsmen in every sense of the word.  In this day and time, finding a true craftsman is like finding a needle in a haystack.  Able Gunite is that rare breed of business.  I would take great pride in recommending them to anyone.

They didn't do the excavating, but they constructed and put in the pool. They were on time and they were friendly. It was hard to get into our neighborhood because of a recent house blow up, but they went above and beyond to make sure it was done in a timely fashion. When we were deciding what to do, they advised us against putting certain features in which would not have worked out well in terms of cleaning and things, even though it would have made them more money. They seemed to really have our best interest in mind rather than quick profit and I really appreciated that. I have recommended them to numerous people.

We met with the representative who was very easy to work with and gave us some very good advice during the design phase.

A good number of pictures were brought for us to use for inspiration.  Many of the pictures were in brochures, but a binder of work done by the company was very helpful to our decision making process.

The representative was knowledgeable about all aspects of design and we quickly settled on a shape, color and dimensions for the pool.  There were some features we thought about adding, but the representative made sure we took into account how each one would affect the way the automatic pool cleaning would be affected and how they would affect the usability of the pool for our family.  We sifted through options and I can say after using the pool for two summers, I am very pleased with all of our choices.  I'm sure this is because of the good groundwork that we laid in our meetings with the representative.

I think it's important to note that one of the features we considered was a cave behind the waterfall we were installing.  Although it would have meant more profit for the company if they installed this feature, their representative advised against it.  It was likely to become a haven for spiders.  We KNEW that would not be a great feature for any of us.  So, we settled for a waterfall that could project far enough out that the kids could swim behind it if they wished.  It was a great choice.

The workmen who came were nice and efficient.  The work was done quickly and on the projected date.

When an incident near our home made it difficult for the crew to get in to the neighborhood, the project leader was on the scene working to get the crew access to our house before I even asked him to come down.

When we decided, a few months later, to add a panel for controlling the pool which we could access from the back porch, they did a great job adding that in too.

This company was professional, helpful, and great to work with.
