I would not use them for my flooring needs. They did not seem to care on how it was put down. They use the and cheapest sub for there work. They were told what to and do and how I wanted it done. They put holes in my walls from the work that was done. They disrespected my personal items and furniture.

Carpet was installed about 6 years ago, it was supposed to be under warranty, it has some areas where seam has opened up and other areas where fraying - we called the store two times and went into store once, was told that the manager would call and come out to see the damage and decide what to do, never heard from manager, never received any call backs, now no longer under warranty.

McCall's was a great experience from start to finish.  The sales experience was great, very helpful but no pressure.  They had a much larger selection and wider variety of carpet than other carpet stores I had been to.  Measuring went well.  I had a specific time frame that the install needed to occur, and given that I had gone there about 5-6 weeks prior to that date to buy carpet, they were easily able to reserve my dates.  The installers came and tore all the old carpet out and disposed of it, and installed all of the new carpet.  They cleaned up very well before leaving.  I love my carpet and I would definitely go to McCall's first for any future flooring needs!

Excellent prices, sales experience, installation, as well as an amazing inventory.  We had looked at all the usual places for flooring needs and found the selections to be lackluster with crazy prices too!  Thankfully, we live pretty close to McCall's and had passed it numerous times.  I was so happy with the selection of carpets and manufactures, Erik our salesman was super knowledgeable and  we really appreciated the honest, upfront quote.  We had a deadline with our out of state movers,  interior painting etc.  Luckily the lady in charge of scheduling was awesome and worked with our crazy schedule.  Lastly, we have lived in a few homes that always seem to need flooring and most of the time I feel disappointed with the level of cleanliness, we've had wood stain on the walls, doors that  needed considerable cleaning and repainting, we've experienced carpet glue (I don't think they do that anymore?) on a few walls (it was a chore to remove) anyway,  the installers were very clean and thorough and worked until the job was done, ONE day to install  3200 sq ft!!!!
We'll definitely use McCall's again!

We were very pleased with the professionalism and responsiveness of Carpet One. Kathy McCall and Robin Nunley took a personal interest in our home and gave us great advice from start to finish. They helped us choose the right materials and they made sure the job was done well. For the price we paid, we found the products and installation to be an excellent value.

They were very professional. They showed up on time. They took out the old carpet and and put in the new carpet. they fixed some spots on the floor.  They did an extra cleaning up and they were very helpful. They did what we wanted and offered some recommendation about the carpet. It worked out best for us.

We had a water leak in our basement and had to pull up the carpet to dry out the space.  They put down new tacks, stretched the carpet and made it as good as new.

We were very happy with the entire experience. They sent a salesperson (Eric) out to discuss what we were considering doing, took all appropriate measurements, and provided us detailed quotes broken down by room with several different options. We then visited showroom to select the carpet and tile to finalize the quotes. This took a couple of trips, because we were also considering other companies and trying to get the most for our money. McCalls worked with us to find good products that were within our budget, and we felt very comforatble with the final outcome. They were not the cheapest quote we received, but we truly felt like the people at McCalls were being upfront and honest with us, and that we were getting good products. Once we had the quote settled, they scheduled the installation with us and work started a couple weeks later (had to wait for carpet / tile to arrive). Installation took several days, although it did not happen all at once due to the amount of carpet we had installed and the timing of when everything arrived. Rather than trying to rush through the installation process, they were willing to do it in pieces because we had so much furniture to move around it would have been very difficult to do all at once.

Overall, our experience with McCall's was quite positive. We had been working on getting flooring bids, including from McCalls since the flood. We went through three different sales people before we were able to actually complete the work.  McCalls just kind of stuck with us.  We had flooring damaged as a result of flood repairs and house would not appraise to get loan for flooring without flooring.. It was all kind of crazy. A year and half later, McCalls honored the originally agreed upon pricing. They were flexible with the scheduling as we needed them to be ( my brother was in the hospital at the time scheduled) and showed up as agreed, The work took a little longer than they had thought it would, but one of the installer got hurt on the job leaving one guy to do what he could alone.  The floor is beautiful. And they did fix the preexisting creaks in my kitchen. We are quite happy with the work, the process for the most part ( even though with three different sales people, we had to let them them come measure every time we tried to go back and get the ball rolling again.

I went to the place and picked out carpet. the sales staff were pretty helpful, I wasnt looking to spend a tremendous amount of money so they werent overly enthusiastic. the installers came in and installed hardwood which looked good. the carpet installers did a good job initially, but the carpet was frayed and coming up over the transition strip soon after installation. I called to complain 3-4 times and finally gave up, they just werent going to come out and fix it.

We removed the old carpet ourselves to save some money. So the floors were ready for installation when the installers arrived.
There was a little delay in installation because of the weather, but the installers who came out were excellent! They were very professional and even though I knew nothing about carpet and hardwood floor installation, I could tell the installers were very experience and skilled at their work. They explained what they were doing as they worked. They were very kind and mannerly to my mother (senior citizen) who was there with them most of the time while I was at work - even helping her across the floor so she wouldn't trip or fall. We were very please with whole experience.

Hard to believe customer service still exists, but McCalls hit it out of the park. We were a 'small potatoes' carpet stretching job and did not purchase any other products. Still, this company treated us as if we were as valuable as any other customer. We appreciate it and will certainly go to McCalls for all future flooring needs and/or refer others to this company.
We still can't believe the job was completed for $50- that's a service call fee for most companies. We are very pleased.

The sales guy was awesome. He was super responsive to what we wanted and even after picking a carpet and pad, he called the next week and said they had a new carpet in that was cheaper and still had the warranty and fit what we were looking for. It was great and saved us a couple of hundred dollars. We compared prices with Lowes and Home Depot and by showing him their prices he said they could meet them. (mostly on the furniture moving and old carpet removal)
The installation guys were great too. A man and his sons. They were kind, nice, quiet, and hard workers. Would definitely use all of them again

How did it go? Hassled. Still hassling, actually. Originally quite pleased with salesman Josh (recently laid off). Helpful in choosing prefinished v finish in place, etc. We had our choice narrowed down to 2 floors, a Bruce and Armstrong (CarpetOne) product. Their pricing on the Bruce was not as good as other dealers/online. However, the Armstrong (CarpetOne) was touted as a and quot;superiorand quot; newer product and due to and quot;introand quot; pricing, not that much more $. So, after some negotiating, we decided to go with the Armstrong from McCall's. So imagine our surprise when a truckload of Bruce product arrived at our house on delivery day. After getting second opinions, talking to other vendors, online research, etc., we are convinced that they are likely the same floor, sold under different names and price points. Bruce and Armstrong are apparently the same company. We may be wrong, but I swear, we did our homework. There is 1 digit different in the product #. Maybe that digit indicates a superior finish (as I'm told by CarpetOne) or that it's the box that gets shipped to CarpetOne. But I'm told by a Bruce rep that they are compatible floors, and that there is no major difference in finish. SO, we agreed that if McCall's would match a competitor's price on the Bruce product that we would go ahead and install that floor. Again, not so hard to negotiate with, and pleased with the compromise, though it was more of a hassle than we wanted. Moving on to installation, less than thrilled but OK with the crew (not clean-cut, but that's not always a big deal to me), until we found out from our other contractor (who had done all the subfloor work) that they weren't nailing down the rows of floor next to the walls (because they couldn't use the nail gun and and quot;they won't be walking this close to the wall anywayand quot; was the reply when he asked them about it.) Maybe we wouldn't have noticed initially, but I'm guessing when we went to move furniture against those walls, we would have noticed the creakiness. Apparently it didn't happen all over the house (again, we're talking nearly 2000 sq ft of hardwood, and they'd been called on it early in the game) and was happening mostly while the supervisor was away. But of course, after that, we probably looked a lot closer than we ordinarily would have...and found numerous squeaks and ding marks apparently from the nail gun . On the first return trip with the installation mgr, they were trying to cover them up as fast as they could (sloppily...putty streaks and dull marks). A week (and 2 unreturned phone calls) later, we're still trying to get it all resolved without having to call Mr. McCall himself. Just a little shadier and more hassled than I would like. We haven't paid in full yet, but to me, $18,000+ is a lot of money to pay for questionable work. We'll see how it goes from here, the van says we'll be happy or it'll be replaced for free, but I wish we'd hired someone else and not had the problems.
UPDATE 6.7.10
STILL I am not moved back into my house because the floor issues are not settled. ~May 10 (after having to re-order some replacement wood) our installers made another return trip to fix the creaky places, squeaky boards, dings, etc. It was implied that alot of the damage was someone else's fault (ours or the other crews). No sense of responsibility AT ALL. We have lots of little crescent shaped dings that seem to be from the nail gun. Some had been puttied, but not very well, so I brought that up, and was told I just needed to clean the floor. There is some other incidental scratching etc. We did have other work going on, and I do not hold them accountable for that. (However, I am wishing that my initial request that we just install the part we had to and wait on the rest, had been considered.) So, on this return trip, they were here for maybe an hour and 1/2 (including smoke breaks). The manager had told my husband that he would come with them to oversee, but did not. When I asked about the other major areas to be fixed, they pretty much acted dumb. They and quot;fixedand quot; (cut out and replaced with glue) one squeaky place in the hall way, which had initially been top-nailed 11 times when we brought up the squeak. It started squeaking again almost immediately and necessitated yet another repair. When they started to cut out another board , they hit a nail, damaging the saw blade, and didn't have a replacement blade on hand (which seems ill-prepared to me if you use a saw on a regular basis). So they were done for the day at 3 pm. At this point, we decided that they would not return until everyone else was finished and we could get a good and quot;fulland quot; picture. I also felt it was unfair for them to have to work alongside the guy that and quot;called them outand quot; on their carelessness, because I felt tension. Nothing overt, but I just didn't want to deal with it. Thurs/Fri before Mem Day, my husband called the installation manager to invite him out again, he came the following Tuesday for a look around. He seemed in agreement that some better work needed to be done. A different (and more meticulous) (and hopefully not already mad at us) crew member was sent to work on Thurs, and my husband seemed pleased with his work. He came back Friday, but still didn't get finished and said he would be back yesterday. We heard nothing. My husband stayed til 11:30 waiting for someone to show up. The large area that was torn up/replaced Friday is unbelievably squeaky/creaky and I have no idea if he's finished with it or not. I am DISGUSTED that I have paid this much money for this much crap. I do however like the floor, just not pleased at all with the installation. When I called Mr. McCall this morning, it just so happened that they were getting ready to come here (again, no communication to us regarding this) and apparently they didn't think they were and quot;confirmedand quot; for yesterday (not sure which part of and quot;I'll make arrangements for someone to be hereand quot; is unclear...) Maybe we'll be done today, but I absolutely cannot recommend dealing with this company, even though my neighbor recommended them to me.
UPDATE 2 July 7.2011
The day of the last update, we did get some issues resolved, but it seems that 1 squeak is fixed and another pops up. On that day, when TIm indicated he was ready to go (finished...), I suggested we walk the repaired area. I put down 7 pieces of tape marking squeaks in the ~ 4x6 ft area that had been repaired. He worked on them before leaving and was appreciative that I'd pointed them out. Since that day, we've marked about 4 more spots. When Mr. McCall called requesting the rest of his payment, I asked if he'd be willing to make any concessions on the price considering all our inconveniences. I also expressed my concern (with the squeaks/history) that the floor may not have been installed according to the mfgr recommendations. Today he came out with Tim and a handy little magnet trick that shows where the nails are. What a relief that in the sample he did (1 room), they do seem to be mostly properly spaced. They found one area that seemed to be every 12and quot; or so (mfgr recommendation is every 6-8 inches). After our issues with NO nails and squeaks, I honestly didn't expect to find it was done correctly. We were told that in a job this large, this is really not too many squeaks (and quot;a very small percentageand quot;) and that no floor is level. (True, but we did spend about $10,000 on sublfoor work and walked on it for weeks marvelling at how solid it felt). This is the thing: Mr. McCall seems to have a knack for turning things around on you. (and quot;So you're fussing at me for making return trips to make this rightand quot;) No, Mr. McCall, I'm fussing that getting this installation right has taken over 2 months (granted, that includes self-imposed downtime-me not wanting multiple crews in my house, working around our schedules, and vacation), that your crews have made probably 5 return trips and used nearly 2 FULL boxes

My sales person was very very helpful and there was absolutely no high pressure. It took me about 2 weeks to select the carpet and hardwood flooring that I wanted and Josh patiently help me decide, even delivering a box of hardwood samples to my house. The installers were also very experienced and professional. They made sure that I was involved in the installation and that everything was done exactly the way I wanted. It was an all around good experience and I'll definately buy from them again.
