Not only did the concrete job end up not draining properly, the quality of the concrete was poor. Robert Franklin admitted that the job was not satisfactory and agreed to tear it out and fix it. After several weeks of calling him and him promising to come, they started to tear out the patio, piling the torn-out, large concrete squares on the driveway. They never finished removing the patio and then left the job in this condition as well as leaving considerable concrete splatter on the brick, the basement door and the windows. We have not yet been able to clean up that splatter. The large concrete squares also ruined the driveway seal that had just been completed. They finally came back after Thanksgiving but not having a solution for fixing the problem, we asked them to leave. We did not pay them for the patio and sidewalk work. It became apparent that Franklin Landscaping did not have adequate expertise in concrete to fix the problem that they had caused. We finally had to hire another contractor to tear out (at our cost) the remaing part of the old job, haul away all the debris and install a new concrete aggregate sidewalk. We decided not to concrete the patio area at this time and still ended up spending a total of $2,700 to fix the previous job and install a sidewalk only. The new contractor attempted unsuccessfully to clean the concrete splatter noted above.
Description of Work: This is a landscaping company that represented they could also do concrete work and driveway sealing. They gave us an estimate for aerating and seeding yard, sod and topsoil for problem areas and planting roses. We paid them $1,800 for this work and it was satisfactory. They sealed and patched our aggregate driveway and walkways and we had to have them come back and cover areas that were missed. They still did a sloppy job and the sealer on the driveway cracks does not look good. They also gave us a quote for tearing out a broken flagstone sidewalk and installing a concrete aggregate sidewalk and also to pour a concrete aggregrate patio under the deck assuring us that there would be no drainage problems.
