First, let me stress that we've never hired a contractor before, and we really, really lucked out with DL Smith Construction. Owner Debra Smith is extremely dedicated to her trade - a first-class professional who oversees tremendously beautiful work. We remodeled about 1000 sq feet of living space, including our master bathroom and bedroom. She was prompt and attentive in her initial assessment, responsive to all our concerns, and quick with suggestions on how to cut costs. She basically satisfied ALL of the wishes we had for every single space. And I must add that building/remodeling in our area is not the simplest of tasks. Our codes department is notorious in their strictness (we know this from our own first-hand experience of installing our swimming pool) but Debra maintained an extremely positive demeanor despite any codes difficulties. Debra has an excellent team working with her. Every single subcontractor, carpenter, electrician, etc. who entered our home was a true professional and extremely personable. We got only the highest quality of work from them. And what is most amazing is that Debra completed our entire remodel while helping over thirty homeowners rebuild their homes after the tragic Nashville floods of May, 2010! But we always felt like we were a top priority on her list, and our job was still done in a timely manner. We now spend 90% of our time in our new remodel. We absolutely LOVE the final result, and the compliments have been plenty! I very highly recommend Debra Smith and DL Smith Construction. And because we will remodel other areas in our home in the future, Debra will be our first choice!
