Wonderful! Initially, Jim came to my house and looked at the project. He prepared wood stained to match to reinforce the hooks at his home. He came to my house and was well prepared and peofessional. What wood I wasn’t going to keep, it was going to repurpose it. Cleaned up after he finished the project. I highly recommend him.

Jm's work exceeded my expectations.  He selected prime cheery which was simply varnished for a natural finish.  Excellent construction and quality cabinet hardware (hinges and soft close draw slides), I supplied the pulls and Jim did a great job of installing those as well.  Wish there was a way to post some pics.

JIm and Sara come out initially to measure the size and type bookcase I wanted. He measured meticulously and gave me a quote and estimated completion date. He adhered to the estimated completion date and  they delivered the bookcase to me. He did a great job with quality materials and quality workmanship. He and Sara are very knowledgeable concerning wood. The new bookcase looks wonderful!

JIm did an excellent job for a very reasonable price.  He was quick to respond and worked with me on the design of the cabinets.  He used high quality materials, and his construction was high quality as well.  He got it done in a timely manner and I'm very satisfied overall.  This spring I plan to talk to him about redoing my kitchen cabinets. 

The ratings above say it all. Jim provided the best carpentry and electrical service I have ever received. Fast, efficient, economical.

I chose Jim from his reviews on Angie's List, and I was not disappointed! He was very prompt in his response and scheduling an estimate. He obviously knew what he was doing when he came out to do the estimate. He made recommendations for the project to save money from what I initially thought I wanted (knocking out the wall) I was very impressed when he delivered the pieces from his shop to install them; he has even made a special holder to transport the shelves so they do not get damaged in transport.
He completed the project promptly and I can't wait to get it set up to use it.
I highly recommend Jim and will definitely use him again if we have any type of carpentry work!

Jim Tuck is an absolutely wonderful carpenter. He was able to look at my pictures and really see the look I was trying to achieve. He worked hard, took few breaks, and patiently answered my questions and listened to my what ifs and how abouts. He was working in my house during summer vacation with a gaggle of children and two huge dogs always underfoot and yet remained cheerful and obliging. His carpentry is beautiful; he seems to be quite a renaissance man and it shines through in all his work. Jim's wife Sara even came over and helped finish the library bookshelves. They are simply delightful people. Five stars and two thumbs up!

Jim and Sara are personable, intelligent people who are very easy to work with. Sara has an amazing sense of color and what goes with what, one such that we had never before seen! They listened well and either did the work just as we wanted or made suggestions, which were usually better than what we had originally wanted. The whole amount of money we spent did not go to them. Some of it went to other workers they suggested, such as a plumber, a wall paper remover, etc., and the amount also included materials and supplies. Their per-hour price was reasonable; however, in retrospect, we would rather have had a per-job price. Overall, we have no complaints and would be honored to have them do further work for us.

When Jim first came to our home, we discussed different ways to save money so that my husband and I could each have a desk/cabinet system in our home office. He was amenable to using repurposed cabinets. When I found what I wanted at the Habitat for Humanity store, Jim came out and discussed the best way to use the cabinets and then designed a desk top to go with them. He finished the work in about a week and when he installed the desk top - the workmanship was phenominal. The office looks fantastic, the desk systems are sturdy and beautiful and he really made it look like the repurposed cabinets were brand new.

Estimate your project according to the schedule he predicts. Allow him in your home without worry, he is trustworthy.

Matched a set of original posts exactly, except slightly scaled down to fit under a beam. Jim put a great deal of thought in how to accomplish this and we couldn't be happier with the result. We own a 1926 bungalow and the posts look as if they are original to the house. Jim is not only a master carpenter, he is also very personable and someone you can trust with the key to your house. We liked him so much, we asked him to come back to build a built-in bookcase.

Can't say enough about Jim and Sara. Jim was always professional. He worked carefully and methodically, neither rushing nor dawdling. His knowledge of old houses and the skill and experience he brings to his work are outstanding. He set up a full carpentry shop in my basement with table saws, joiners, planers, and a router table. I found Jim very easy to work with. We worked without a contract, changing and modifying specs as we went. Every book on the subject warns against doing this, but it worked out great and the job was completed beyond my expectations and within my budget. Jim's patience, humor and decency greatly reduced the stress and disruption from the remodel. Sara has an artist's eye for color and pulled together a wonderful color scheme that I believe will stand the test of time. Jim and Sara are wonderful people who do superb work. I have recommended them to my friends and would hire them again without hesitation.

I cannot say enough complimentary things about Jim and Sara. The quality of their work is excellent. They are reliable and trustworthy (I give them my house keys when they are doing a job, with no worries whatsoever). They are both practical and artistic. They are two of the most ethical people I know. They are smart, funny, and just a pleasure to have around. I wouldn't think of calling anyone else for general remodeling/repairs. I have referred a number of friends to them, and all have been just as happy with their work, and are now repeat customers. Did I mention their prices are incredibly reasonable? Just one anecdote: When my 80-year-old mother was coming to stay with me, Jim made a special trip to install a banister on the stairway leading to the guest room, so my mom could have support climbing the stairs. That's the kind of people Jim and Sara are.

The quality of their work is outstanding. They're craftsmen rather than carpenters. Their goal is not to maximize their profits but to do a good job and make a decent living in the process. Their costs are reasonable. The ''Amount paid for work'' is a complete estimate, I don't really know how much I have paid over the years. In addition, Jim and Sara are really great people, I have had them work on things over a period of several years. It's pleasant having them around the house. They don't advertise, they get business strictly by word of mouth. The only drawback is that they, not surprisingly, have a waiting list, and for selfish reasons, that was my one hesitation about putting them on Angie's list, that their waiting list would go up.
