I called one company, they came out and took a brief look at my system. The fellow told me I needed to replace the whole unit. $89 down the drain. Then a real estate broker friend suggested I call Gent. I spoke with the owner who sent one of his guys out. This fellow followed the issue to a broken exhaust fan blade, replaced it, put it all back together. Under $200 and my heater works better than before! These are my go-to guys! Thank you, Gent Heating and Air!!!

Very well, did what needed to be done, advised on go forward maintenance and did not try and force an entire new system down my throat.

Great. Being a local business owner myself, I can say that I was very impressed. They arrived on time, did a great job and gave me a fair price. I will use this company always in the future as the need arises. I would recommend them to everyone!

Good workmanship and a fair price.  We discussed the difference levels of product and he what up front with the differences.  Sold me the middle of the road.   I'll have him work on other properties in the future.

Something had happened to it. They replaced a couple of parts and got it going again. It was a lot cheaper than a new system. But still, not something you want to have to do very often. Two workers were out to perform the service. They came out two different times. They came to see what was wrong and then they came back to actually fix it. It took them four hours in total to perform the service. There is not a whole lot of people who do geothermal. So he had to come pretty far away. His place is not local here. It is a couple of hours away. I did not have any complaints.

my a/c went out and i needed someone right away. i called a lot of companies, and a lot of them didn't even answer the phone. those that did couldn't come out for a week. those that promised me quotes never called back.
with gent heating and cooling, someone, the owner, answered every call immediately. sent someone out right away, and gave me a good price on a new system. i know it was a good price because i got a new system on a previous house a few years before and hoped to get a price close to it. he was only $400 different than the system i had a few years prior and this was for a larger system so i'm sure it would cost more. i was unable to get quotes from other business so as to compare prices, since we are in the middle of summer, but i am assuming since it is a 4 ton instead of a 3 ton system that $400 difference would be a close enough quote to my previous deal a few years back. and on that deal i had time to call on about 10 different companies, so i knew my previous deal was a great deal. i paid $400 more this time, but got a 4 ton instead of a 3 ton, so i think i got a great deal.
the workers came out and installed cleanly and left no mess.
i have no complaints whatsoever which is a big deal nowadays because it's almost like no one does a good job anymore.
i will recommend, and thank you for giving me a great deal and coming out so quickly to help me in a bind, and god bless you and your family.

Gent has been maintaining/checking our home heating and cooling for a few years now, and when our upstairs unit expired from age and overwork, we purchased the replacement from them. They did not try to upsell us on the unit, even suggesting a more reasonably priced unit than the system we first had in mind.
Due to some misleading/extraneous piping in the attic (apparently the original installation didn't match the builder's piping, and more piping was put in without removing a "pipe to nowhere") condensation from the new  unit  dripped into the insulation, and damaged the room below.  Gent covered all the repairs without quibbling, hiring a very good drywall contractor.  We still use Gent, and when our original main floor unit unit expires from old age, we intend to purchase that one from Gent, too.

They were good.  They were fast and cleaned up after themselves which is always a plus in the contract.  He actually brought in a good size crew and it was done in four or five hours.  They had to run completely new dent work.  They actually gave me a bonus vent into the basement because they originally weren't going to do anything down there since we were not sure if we wanted to.  He ran a flexible tube down through the floor and it just opens into the basement; there's no vent or anything over it.  They were really cool. The units they use are made in the US and I am always on the look out for people who use US products.

Mark showed up on a Saturday after the worst storm of the winter after our furnace heating elements would not shut off. He was able to get the unit running by bypassing the set of elements that would not turn off so that we could use the heater.
Good guy, very knowledgable.
I will use him again.

Shane and his crew did a good job, they work very quick, installing an entire system into a 2500s.f. house in one day. They're professional and well-priced, recommended.

We contacted Shane the day after Labor Day weekend as we noticed over the holiday that our air wasn't working properly. It's an older until so we were expecting a replacement might be called for. We left a message on Labor Day evening, they called the next morning and arrived before noon (as promised). They diagnosed the problem quickly (a slight freon leak), recharged the unit and we were back in "business". I was very pleased with the experience - timeliness, quickness of their response, professionalism and the cost of their services. Primo, Gent Heating and Air Conditioning!

I spoke with the owner about my problem with my AC unit and he said he would not charge me if he could not find the problem. He finally called after being late for my appointment and let me know when he would be here. Once he showed up, he said that my AC was low on freon. He said there was probably a slow leak and it would be difficult to find because it was so slow. He then said it would cost me $200, $100 for the freon and $100 for the service charge. I refused to pay him for a service call because he had not fixed the problem. He just left then. I said I would pay for the freon but not the service charge. He came back and then he asked for $125 for the freon. I wrote him a check and then he left. I still don't know what the problem is.
Response from Gent Heating & Cooling
"[member name removed] called me about a problem she was having with her unit. She said she had a 10-Yr Parts & Labor warranty with Trane and several companies had come out but nobody could find a problem. I told her I would check it out, but if I could NOT find anything wrong, Trane would not pay me for my time and she would have to pay. She said OK. I was going to be running an 1 hour late so I called her and told her I was running late and told her when I would be there. She said her unit blows hot air when it kicks on. I spent 1 hour checking everything out. The unit was a little low on freon. The duct work is in the attic, so I told her that when the unit kicks on, the air in the duct has become acclimated to the attic temperature. That's why it starts out blowing warm air and then cools off. I asked her 3 times if she wanted me to fill the unit up with freon. All three times she said yes. I told her my price for a service call would be $75.00 and R-22 would be $50.00 per pound. So I put 2.5lbs of R-22 in the unit. My bill was $200.00 ($75 for service call, 125.00 for R-22). It was not $100.00 for service call and $100.00 for freon. She would not pay the bill, so I left. She then called me back to tell me she would pay me for the freon. I returned to her house and she gave me a check for $125.00. My findings were: the unit is functioning fine, a little low on freon, but the problem is that the duct work is in the attic."

Great work by the staff assigned to my area. He stated his name was Ebby, but I am unsure exactly of how it's spelled. One guy worked on the heat pump cleaning it out and both worked on maneureving the new duct-work into place.
They were patient and answered all questions.
I had rats chew through the existing duct-work apparently long ago..and they had made a nest all around the area. I decided to clean all of that up and me and Ebby worked together on it. This may have made them behind on another call, but it needed to be addressed. I used my wet/dry vac and cleaned up the entire area myself and then sprayed bleach all over.
They found and addressed other problems.
Ebby found a hole that the build had left that was in-between the crawl-space and that area. I worked out with him if he could please cover that up with something and he was able to do a great job cleaning it up and covering it with some flexible steel sheeting..screwing it down with no openings all around.
Great Pricing
Was 1/3 the cost of HEP or others. So the service, cost, and work provided will definitely have me come back.

I called Sunday afternoon and Shane was here early Monday.  Very professional, punctual, and knowledgable.  His prices were extremely reasonable.  More than half the cost of my repair was the Freon he had to use to refill my unit - I needed quite a lot of Freon, but his prices per lbs were at the lower end of what I was expecting.  I don't think I've ever had any type of home maintence service call go as smoothly as I did with Gent Heating & Cooling.  I highly recommend them and plan to use them again in the future for annual maintenance.

I knew I had a short in my AC unit, but I thought it was the compressor. I got an appointment the same day I called. They showed up on time and were very proffessional and solved the problem immediately. It turned out to be a faulty wire insulation on a de-icing unit. They fixed it quickly and got me up and running again.
They were referred by a co-worker and I wanted to join Angies List just to let everyone know how happy I am with this company.
