Jon E. McCreery, President Chamberland McCreery (CMCC LLC) put on a big sales job, when we met him in late July 2013. We had purchased commercial property, with the intention of building a business. It was imperative that the business be open by December 31, 2013, due to changing tax laws. He both verbally and in writing, assured us that we would be open by our deadline, and that it could be built within our budget, telling us that we needed a ?ringmaster? like him. Based on his promises, we authorized him to spend over $9,000 on permits and additional drawings, that he insisted he needed. We were clear that this money was not to be spent, if Mr. McCreery saw this project going over budget, or missing our completion deadline. After more than a month, he presented a proposal for $179,000 over our budget. When we questioned the $9,000 expense, he sent us a nasty, viscous, horrible e mail stating ?Novices get into the real estate business, thinking that it is easy and they get their butts kicked and then assume that is somebody else?s fault. The whole deal is your problem.? Our ?ringmaster? stuck us with $10,000 in useless drawings, and ended a one time only 2013 golden tax opportunity. He knows that he has us over a barrel now, it is WAY too late to start with anyone else. He told us that if we wanted the business up by December 31, we would have to pay the inflated proposal, even though I have written communication with his associate promising large cuts. He also sent a reduced proposal to the bank. He blamed ?faulty? plans that we gave him in August. However, I told him verbally and in writing, that if he saw anything in the plans that were causing us to go over budget, to change them. According to him, it was all our fault, because we knew nothing and he has 30 years experience in the construction industry. He played us like a fiddle. He is way too smart for us. Congratulations to the winner. He must be so proud.
