I inherited my grandfather clock from my mother. It had not worked for the last several years while in her possession. After moving it to my home, I was not able to get it to work, so I contacted Calvin Flowers at Calvin's Clocks to ask him to come to my house and look at it. He told me that it would probably be 4 or 5 weeks before he could come, and he would contact me. After about 4 weeks, he called and said he could come to my house in about 45 minutes if that was convenient. He came and oiled my clock, etc. and had it working in about an hour. Afterwards, he asked me if I knew what I needed to do to keep the clock running. I knew nothing about how it worked, and he gave me a very thorough lesson in grandfather clocks. I am beyond excited because this clock is so special to me, and now I can really enjoy it. I also had another wall clock that was no longer working, and I showed it to Calvin. He said that he could repair it and took it to his shop to do so. Finding someone to repair Grandfather clocks is a difficult task, and I feel that it is a dying art. I commented to Calvin that I hoped he was teaching this skill to others. He replied that he mentors others, but not many young people are interested. That is very sad to me because I care so much about family heirlooms such as my clock. I feel that the cost of repair was very reasonable due to the length of time he spent on it as well as his travel time. Every time I hear my clock chime, I have a big smile on my face. I highly recommend Calvin Clocks!

Everything went well. He's very good at his work. The only downside is he's hard to get an appointment with because he's so busy. I think there are very few clock doctors in the city. I was extremely happy to have my clocks running right. My late husband would be happy as well. He loved his clocks.

I called Calvin's Clocks about repairing my antique wall clock - I had accidentally pulled one of the chains all the way out of the clock. He told me to bring it into the store and he would take a look at it. I took the clock in that afternoon, and Calvin fixed it for me while I waited.

It is difficult to get to the shop when it is open as the hours seem to be hit or miss. Once you do get in, Calvin is quite nice and treats you professionally. It tooks weeks and weeks for him to do the job, and I had to keep calling to see when the work would be done. Eventually someone who works for him told me the clocks were ready to be picked up. I thought the price for both was quite high, but the clocks have sentimental value. Once I got them home, they worked for about 3 months. Both stopped working about the same time. They are both keyed clocks, and neither can be wound any longer. I did not contact them about this because I didn't want to waste anymore of my time trying to get there when the shop was open and then following up for more weeks to try to get an answer about the status of the clocks. I would never take another clock to this shop.

I don't think I'll ever need Calvin's Clocks because I don't own any of the types of clocks on which he works. As I mentioned, though, he was very nice.

The technician was on time, courteous and efficient.
