Since 1978 our company has been providing solutions for the complete indoor comfort needs of the residents and small businesses owners of Anderson and Knox counties. Tim Melton, president and owner since 2003 has continued to build on the company’s impeccable reputation of quality and reliability. They were great and excellent. We got three different bids and they were competitive. They reached out to me. They called me in the spring to remind me it was time for a tune up.  It was something that provided. For the first years they will do a spring and fall check on the unit and after that it’s an annual fee. I forgot about that and they called me. I would recommend them without reservation. I was very happy with the work they did and the unit they installed. If someone was asking me I would tell them to call them.

Everything went very well.  We had recently moved from out of state to a new home in Knoxville.  The new home had its original main level AC and gas furnace (15 years old) and we were advised on purchase they were on their last legs.  Sure enough, the AC unit gave up the ghost after four months.  We had only wanted Trane units going forward given their tremendous reputation (in fact, our last home had a second floor Trane heat pump installed in 1999, and we had not a day of problems during our 15 years thereafter through the sale of the home).  We had had a long standing family run HVAC business taking care of our needs in WV and wanted the same here in the Knoxville area.  Also important were "A" rated reviews on Angie's List.  Melton HVAC fit the bill perfectly, with its excellent reviews not only in Angie's List but also by the separate review process run by Trane on its dealers.  I contacted the company and was referred to their sales manager, Mark Reynolds.  He came out and reviewed our main level system as well as a few flaws in cooling distribution we had discovered after living in the home a few years.  He also reviewed our plans for finishing a large basement and came up with suggestions for how to heat and cool that area.  He came up with two options for the main level AC unit (15 versus 18 SEER systems) and two options for the basement level heat pump.  We settled on the higher efficiency 18 SEER unit for the main level, given Marc's calculations on payback for the upgrade (savings on the electric bill in less than five years); and went with the regular 15 SEER heat pump for the basement given Marc's recommendation that the basement level would have modest electric demand.  He volunteered a Senior Citizen discount to the estimated price.  Trane was also running a manufacturer rebate on both the AC unit and the heat pump and those discounts were also applied.  The prices were fair, the products excellent and the dealer was well established as a long standing, reputable company with great emphasis upon strong customer support.  We signed the contract and settled on the install dates of 10/7 and 10/8/14.  The crew arrived at 8 am on 10/7; also present was Mark, who spent a number of hours present ensuring that the three man crew knew all the details of the install issues we had discussed earlier and the running "fixes" we had discussed for the main level shortcomings.  We made a couple of running changes that morning and the crew were up and running right away.  All three of the crew were easy to work with - they clearly wanted to do a good job and satisfy the customer.  Early on the second day, when they placed the 18 SEER AC unit outside where we had discussed, it became obvious given its size that it needed to be placed in the downhill location originally slated for the smaller 15 SEER basement heat pump.  I had not realized the tremendous height of the 18 SEER unit in advance of its install.  I called Mark, who was off location by then, explained the problem and the need to switch the location of the outside units.  At that point the main level unit was installed and running.  I told him that the error was mine and that the additional expense should be borne by us, not the contractor.  He wouldn't hear of it, said that they would handle the switch and that the added labor would be no big deal.  In fact, the added labor sufficiently slowed down the install so that a part of the crew needed to return for a third morning to finish the job.  True to his word, Melton absorbed the extra cost of the switch.  Everything went smoothly.  The head of the crew showed us how to operate the new thermostats and answered all our questions.  Operation of the systems has gone well, and our electric bills have reduced significantly, as Mark had advised.  This is even with now heating and cooling the basement level.  I cannot imagine wanting anything more in an HVAC contractor and look forward to working with Melton for many years to come.

Mark and Richard and his crew are great people. They arrived on time and did a great job installing my Mitsubishi split system in both the downstairs work room and upstairs mancave area.  Not just anyone can install these ductless systems and Richard knows what he's doing, these guys are professionals. They explained everything they were doing, did it in an efficient manner, and cleaned up everything behind them. They also ran a new natural gas pipe and rewired the circuit for my new gas range, again, excellent job.This is the second job I've had Melton do at my house and I strongly recommend them for anything you need done. Great people and great company to deal with.

They are really good.  I have been doing business with them for a couple of years.  They are absolutely wonderful.  The whole crew over there treats me like family.  They come twice a year and service our heating and air.  I get two checkups; one in the spring and one in the summer.  If I sign a contract with them for a year’s service they come out twice for $130.  They call me and remind me when I just set up a date.  I had really got the screws put to us by a heating air company that went out of business.  They had sold mom a warranty on her heating air condition so then he went out business and the air condition broke the very next year.  A friend had told to call Melton and we called them out and they looked it over.  When they went to do warranty work on it we got to find out that the guy hadn’t paid for the warranty and they worked with Frigid Air in Mountain View company and Frigid Air allowed mom to go back a year and purchase that warranty and at first Melton didn’t want to do it as it was not their problem but they finally got them to do that, otherwise it would have been a $3000 job and that guy really screwed my mother.  Melton’s came in and saved her. They worked with Frigid Air on every single day.  They really care about the customer and if you have any concerns or anything they will work with you.  If you call them anytime they will drop whatever and make sure I am taken care of even if I am calling or texting them in the middle of the night or the weekends and there is no extra charge.  They deserve every ‘A’ they get.
