At first, it went pretty well. They started work on April 21, 2015. As their trucks pulled up, I noticed that they said, "BBB accredited" on the side. I later found out that they weren't. As they pulled into the yard, I was concerned about how the truck was mired up in my yard (see photos) but Daniel Wysong had stated that they would fix the yard so I wasn't too worried about it. They removed three sections of my fence so that it wouldn't get damaged. It turns out that there were five brothers who were involved...all Wysongs...and a couple of other workers. They brought the tree down over a two day period. It was a huge tree and they felled it without hitting anything. However, I was concerned about my yard as their machinery dug tracks into the yard right along the path of the French drains that I had spent $1200 on a couple of years before. The chipper got stuck in the neighbor's yard and I later discovered that the tree guys had taken...without my permission...lumber that was stored under my deck to put under the wheels. They also took the mulch off of my property to put under the wheels and fill up the huge mud hole created in my neighbor's yard. When I found out, I was not happy. But, back to the main event. I paid them another $100 to clear the behind the fence line with clear instructions to not go within 20 feet of the dogwood tree. This instruction was ignored as they went down and around the dogwood and, in the process of doing so, ran over and embedded an ancient box turtle into the ground. I did not find it until 3 days later but it was too late to save it. If they had just stayed away from the dogwood... Anyway, they were to cut up the trunk of the tree into 4 foot sections and Couch's BBQ was coming to pick up the pieces. They worked out some deal with Couch's to deliver the logs. I had nothing to do with that. The sections did not get cut up as I was told and, instead, were hauled out about 12-15 feet long which caused the bobcat to dig into the yard from the weight. I started getting concerned. There was no grass left in my back yard and there were ruts from front to back and even in my other neighbor's yard which he was not happy about. They finished the tree removal on April 23 and left with promises to come back and fix the yard. My fence was not back into place. When I called Daniel Wysong about the yard repair, he informed me that they would be out there to do that and to fix the fence. They didn't come. On May 5, 2015, my friend and her husband came to visit from Missouri. They took one look at the destruction in my backyard and decided to try and fix it. They shouldn't have had to even think about that. I bought topsoil, grass seed, and straw. One of my neighbor's came over and we tried to fix the yard but it really needed grading from the deep ruts caused by the truck. But, at least it was no longer a giant mudhole. Three weeks goes by and I finally call Daniel Wysong about putting my fence back up. They were aware that I have an elderly cat who likes to go out in my yard every day. He can't climb the fence and just stays back there watching birds. I had put a temporary fence across the opening but we were having problems in the neighborhood with a pair of fox terriers who were chasing down and killing cats. They had even tried to climb my fence once. So, I had to sit in the yard with the cat while the temporary fence was up as animals could come over it. On May 13, 2015, I just happened to look out the window and see Daniel Wysong and another man standing back by the temporary fence and they had a bird dog with them who I saw had a bead on my cat who was back in the corner of the yard lying in a cubby. They were starting to remove the fence when I shot out the door and stopped them. I said, "My cat's back there! Don't let your dog in here!" I grabbed the cat and put him in the house. Daniel said that he had seen the cat. When the fence was removed, the dog ran straight over to the corner and was trembling in anticipation. Daniel commented that it was accused of killing the neighbor's cat but he didn't think it had. I guess that he had planned to find out whether or not his dog was a cat killer. They put my fence posts back into the ground (one of them without concrete) and put the fence back up. Daniel informed me that they would not fix the yard and they had quit stating that they would do so on their website. I hope to never see them again. In the end, I got a fair price on cutting the tree down which was done thoroughly and efficiently but, in return, all of my buried downspouts and French drains were crushed and I am not in good enough physical condition to dig them up and repair them so I am out about $1200 for that which, oddly, equals the price that I paid for the tree removal. I spent a couple of hundred dollars on bags of soil and grass seed but need a dump truck load of soil ( a few hundred dollars) to fill in the ruts and then I need to pay someone a few hundred dollars to grade the yard. I am also out the $100 or so of stored lumber and the several cubic yards of mulch from the tree that was taken and put in the neighbor's yard. In the end, I wish that I had paid more money to a tree service that had a crane. Don't ever take the cheapest bid. I've learned my lesson.
