Over the last couple of years we’ve paid Window World of Chattanooga over $15,000 to replace windows and doors in our home. Because of their reasonable prices, expert installation and great customer service we recommended them to numerous friends and neighbors. That’s known as customer loyalty stemming from an “ideal customer experience”.
However, after our latest “F rated” ordeal, we are no longer loyal customers. In fact, if Angie’s List offered a lower rating than F we would use it. Now, instead of recommending them, we will share our “nightmare customer experience” with Angie’s List, our friends and neighbors.
While planning an extensive remodeling of our master bathroom we decided to replace its 4’x5’ picture window with one of equal size. We chose an acrylic block window that would provide privacy while showcasing the new tile, frameless shower door and stone vanity top. To complement our other service providers’ excellent work, we ordered that custom built, $600 window from Window World of Chattanooga. That’s when our “nightmare” began.
First of all, the installation date was changed four times. Each daily and hourly change was made after the appointment time had passed. Wasting our time didn’t seem to matter to the office manager who thought I was his “buddy” instead of his customer.
Next the old window was replaced with one smaller than contracted. It was then trimmed it in a manner that can only be described as amateurish. The attached photos were made prior to the bathroom being professionally painted. They show the gaps around the under sized window as well as the terrible trim work of what was to be our “showcase window”.
Throughout the ordeal the company’s owner (Eric Anderson) and his salesman were aware of the problems but ignored our calls. Instead the office manager told us Mr. Anderson found the undersized window and poor workmanship to be completely acceptable. Instead of resolving the situation by reordering a correctly sized window, we were given unfounded reasons as to why the window was too small and improperly installed. Finally the company told us the “only solution” they would provide was to cover up their mistake using exterior aluminum trim to wrap around an inside vinyl window frame in a manner that would create an “eye sore”.
If anyone at Window World of Chattanooga had listened to our concerns and offered solutions instead of excuses, this situation may have had a different outcome. Instead, Mr. Anderson’s arrogance and inflexible attitude have created a problem that has only one solution --- find another service provider to install a properly sized, installed and trimmed window.
From the first day of installation to the last, Window World was in and out of our house for 3 months!!!
Some of the windows were missing from the initial order. They installed the wrong windows in spots that had to be changed out. inside window trim was cracked and damaged. A metal wall hanging was knocked off the wall when an installer attempted to carry a double window up our flight of stairs by himself. The metal piece hit our hardwood floor taking a chunk of floor out in the process. The installer blamed the type of nail we had used to hang our piece (one that we walked past every day for several years). The sales rep could not be easily reached after installation began. We received a lot of excuses as to why our job was taking so long. In the end I tried to reach the owner to discuss issues... unbelievably the owners had not contacted us to discuss our job, even though they knew we were 11 weeks into a 3 day job. After I contacted them, the owner called my husband (they had both of our cell numbers), he spoke with her briefly and asked that she call me to discuss the issues, that I had had more contact with the installers. In the meantime I had also left her another message... she NEVER called back.
Ultimately we ended up with the product we wanted (which several other companies in town carry, they all just carry these windows under different names or numbers). It just took more than 10x longer than promised with some damage to items in the house with no concern from the sales representative and the owners.
I would think twice before using this company.
