He messed up installation. I called him every two weeks and he kept saying they were shipping the wrong parts. This went on about 2.5 months. Then finally he was rude to me and said he already fixed it. Was extremely rude and rude my my wife specifically as well during a phonecall. I sent him an email that was nice just saying there has to be some misunderstanding. He gave me some random number and said it was fixed 1 month prior (which was inaccurate; also said he did at no charge which again is inaccurate). He mentioned his warranty in the email (which according to his email we were still under. So I asked him to honor the warranty. He would not. I asked him to then provide me signed documentation showing work was done -- he would not. He has blocked my number it appears because it goes straight to voicemail. I truly think he doesn't know what he is doing on the work. I cannot believe he is listed on fridedaire website. He is completely scattered and is just straight loss.

I paid him $115 for the service call. He failed to get the dishwasher back into the cabinet so I not only did not have a dishwasher but also could not open the silverware drawer. I tried to get it In place but it needed to be screwed into countertop.
Called him immediately and he said he was too far to come back till the next Wednesday. This man only comes when he will be in area, NOT when you have a leak!
While here, he told me it would be $450 parts, labor to fix the dishwasher. He had to get parts and come back the NEXT Wednesday!
he told me on phone I had a bad attitude and he would send my check back. I said fine, he cashed it the very next day.
The next AM Chattanooga Appliance came right out, inspected and said nothing wrong with machine, not leaking and likely a utensil had blocked the washer arm(s) since it was a small, leak. TOTAL charge : under $80 .
Volunteer is owned by Carl Jerry McKaig, Jr. He would not allow me to write a check to his company, only to him personally.
He inflated repairs, wasted my time and money. His son Jeremy works with him. Jerry just seemed to supervise, but both agreed a new heater and a new set of connectors were needed! Even called Electrolux in my presence to order parts, later found out no record of the order from distributor or the Electrolux Co.

Approximately three months ago we hired Jerry McKaig at Volunteer Appliance to replace a damaged door gasket. (This was after I contacted Whirlpool for a warranty repair. Whirlpool declined to help us even though we had spent almost $3,000.00 for the Symphony washer and dryer with pedestals. Our warranty had expired one week earlier. But then that's another story.) I went to an appliance parts store, bought the gasket for $165.00, and then contacted McKaig to install it. He came out when he said and he and his son installed it. I inspected their work and saw where the gasket was not looped over a ring inside the washer. He said that is the way it fits and indicted maybe I should not question his work. I said no more. For the next couple of months we were constantly having to dry the inside of the gasket after each use. The water which drained from the inside of the door was not draining back into the washer's tub. The gasket weep holes were not lined up for the water to drain into the washer's tub. It would not leak, however, if we did not dry the gasket, mold would form within 24 hours. I finally had all I could handle, called Volunteer and explained the situation, AFTER, I called Whirlpool repair, explained it to them, and was told, yes, it was not unstalled correctly. Mr. McKaig told me it was in correctly and if I wanted it fixed to call Whirlpool and have them fix it. He then hung up on me. I called Whirlpool back just to make sure they understood what I was talking about. They understood exactly. They suggested going by one of thrie retailers and look at their floor models. I went by Sears and Lowes and looked at the identical washer. THE GASKET WAS NOT INSTALLED CORRECTLY? I again called Mr. McKaig at Volunteer Appliance and tried to tell him what I found out. This man was rude, insulting, and crude. He hung up on again. End of story.

I called and told them I had an unusual European combo unit that few people would know how to service. They confirmed that they could do it, and came out to try and diagnose it. They charged me $87.50 for the service call, before they had even done anything, and did not tell me about this charge before they came. They did say it would go toward the repair, the apparent intention being to cover their expense if I decided not to use their services. They said they would have to try and get a part and then come back to fix it. Turns out this unit doesn't use that part. We went around in circles both calling the manufacturer repeatedly, and ended up making a 3 way call to them. The owner ended up saying he was going to just have to "gracefully" bow out, but despite repeated calls, they refused to ever return the service fee. They never knew anything about this washer at all, and they advertised themselves as being qualified to do it, told me directly that they could do it, and then charged me for something they admitted they could not do. In my eyes, that makes them three-fold frauds.

We bought a house in early 2008. The previous owner told us that the Dacor oven included with the house was in need of repair, but that she had already paid someone to fix it. She gave us Mr. McKaig's name and number. After we settled into the house, we tried to get in touch with Mr. McKaig to fix the oven. After several attempts, I finally got him on the phone one afternoon. He was rude from the start, saying that he could only talk to us between 7:00 and 8:00 AM. When I called him at that time, however, no one would ever answer the phone. After several months of trying sporadically to reach him (we were remodeling the kitchen, so the oven wasn't a priority), he did say he would schedule a service call, but needed to know the model of the oven. I told him the model number, and he said he would find the part and get back to me. Two months later, still no call from Mr. McKaig. I finally reached him again, and he said he found the part in the warehouse, but that it was broken and he would have to order another one. Months go by and the kitchen remodel is complete, but we still don't have a working oven. I had to call him again. Mr. McKaig said he would come take a look at the appliance. Several weeks later, he finally shows up, only to declare that the part he has is not the part that's needed. He assured me, however, that he had already been paid for the job by the previous owner and that he was "as anxious to get this done as I was." He left, saying he would have to order the correct part and would call me when it arrived. Two months later, still no call. We got in touch with him, but he said the part was on back order, but should be there within a week or two. Again, we waited and heard nothing from Mr. McKaig. We have now been in the house for TWO YEARS and still don't have a working oven. I called Mr. McKaig again this morning. Miraculously, he picked up the phone between 7:00 and 8:00 AM. I reminded him who I was and asked him if the part was there yet. He was immediately on the defensive, saying he had done "everything he could" to help us, but that "if I was going to push him, I could just forget it." I reminded him that it had been two years since he had been paid to fix the oven, and that my patience was at an end. His parting shot: "F*** you in the ear, dude." And then he hung up. I joined Angie's List that same hour...
