Called Village VW for appointment for service. Was given appointment for
9:30AM on 7/15/14. Arrived on time. Told them the problems with the
auto and they told me it would be about $90 to check it out. I agreed
with that. I asked how long it might take and was told he couldn't give
me an estimate until the car had been looked at. He said he would call
me in about 2 hours so I left the car and my wife took me back home to
wait. When I had heard nothing by 12:30 I called them and was told the
car had not yet been looked at but would get to it after lunch.
Since my wife had to go out of town she took me back to Village VW at
2:30PM. The car had still not been looked at. When I told them I had had
a 9:30 appointment I was told that was a drop off time and did not mean
that was when the car would be looked at. The excuse was they were just
overwhelmed with work.
Finally at 4:30PM, 7 hrs the car was ready. I was told the refrigerant
was low and so was replaced. The inverter had a short and would have to
be replaced and since they didn't have it in stock nothing could be done
that day.
No apology for taking so long just a thank you for the business.
When they quoted a price to evaluate the degree of work needing to be
done they didn't mention that it was per problem instead of an overall
charge. So I was charged labor to check the A/C and a separate labor
charge to check the inverter and a labor charge to recharge the A/C plus
of course parts and tax. Then there was the "charge for repair order".
Now that is rubbing salt in the wound. The total charge was $285.64.
The next day a lady from Village VW called and ask how things were. I
asked her was she asking about me, the car or the service? She replied
the car. I told her I had only driven home but it seemed to be working
fine. She thanked me at which point I asked if she was interested in the
service I had received. She replied, "Well, OK." I wasn't at all sure
she really cared. So I told her my experience.
She replied that in her 11 yrs. she had never had anyone who had a bad
experience. How dumb must she think I am? In 11 yrs not even 1 bad
complaint? No company dealing with the public can go 11 yrs without 1
bad complaint.
Needless to say, I do not recommend Village VW for service. I will certainly not go back.

They have been fabulous! They work with you and are very good people. The dealers were honest, good, and we have been really pleased. They told us that we would get at least 40 miles to the gallon because we have little diesels. My husband has a Jetta wagon and gets 48 miles to the gallon. I consistently get 50 miles per gallon on my Jetta sedan, whether me or my daughter drives. We don't pay for our service for the life of the car. That counts for scheduled services and recalls. It came with a 5 year warranty and we purchased the extended warranty. We purchased an insurance policy so if we lose the keys they will replace them for free for up to 5 years. Our children have been so impressed that they have looked at them and are trying to get one.

The overall experience went well. Jeremy, the technician, let me know up front that there were quite a few codes being displayed and he recommended the first couple of things to work on but that there would probably be more. Him having to order and wait on parts for two days on two separate occasions made it a longer process. I had to go without the car for a week, but I've heard stories that are a lot worse. The car is running well now several days later, and the check engine light which had been on for a year has stayed off.
