PREBUL KIA

I helped my son buy a late model used KIA from this dealership. The car was to serve as basic transportation - nothing fancy or high-end. It had been through their used car service check and had some repairs and parts replaced, and it was presented as safe and reliable for the intended purpose. The car ran fine for about a week, then started having major problems - wouldn't start, stopped while being driven, battery drained, lights not working. We took the car back to KIA several times (sometimes driven, sometimes towed). They replaced the battery for free (which wasn't the problem), and we paid for some repairs. But it still occasionally quit running while being driven and frequently wouldn't start. KIA wanted several thousand dollars to replace the wiring in the car. My son had had the car for less than two months. We would have been happy to return the car to them in exchange for the price paid or credit toward another car. They would do neither. We took the car to a local mechanic with an excellent reputation (who I found on Angie's List) and started the arduous task of identifying and fixing all the problems. It was expensive - but less than the estimate we got form KIA, which included only part of the repairs the car needed. I am very disappointed that KIA sold a car that almost immediately needed lots of expensive repairs. They made a sale; We lost time and money. Yes, I do know the rule is "Buyer Beware" when it comes to used cars, and I will be more careful next time. I will never buy another car from KIA. I will never go back to KIA for anything.
