We were really pleased to have Brad and his team to help us start to overhaul an older home purchase. Brad and his guys were on the ball with beginning the project in a timely way, getting the demo done fast, starting the project and also rolling with us as we had materials that were broken/delayed shipments. We added parts to the job as we went and the pricing was fair and reasonable. Brad worked with terrific roofers and getting an excellent tiler and plumber and he used our choice for stone install. He kept us up to date and was responsive when we had questions, he is very knowledgeable and also willing to figure carpentry challenges out as they arise (like our large inset farm sink and vintage dresser bathroom vanity). We are doing painting/finish work ourselves to keep our price down, but Brad can recommend painters for a job if you don't want to do it yourself. Overall, the multiple part job was complete sooner than we thought, we are happy, and we will use Brad and his guys again!

I contacted Brad in March and asked for an estimate to replace my 40 year old deck. I was interested in him based on previous comments in Angie's List. We were immediately impressed with his knowledge, suggestions, openess to suggestions and overall personality. He told us he could not begin until his current project was completed. We liked this approach as it showed his committment to not have multiple projects underway unless it was necessary due to constuction factors. He and his crew began on our deck during the first week of July. We had some modifications to the original plan. Brad was able to accommodate these suggestions. After roughly 3 weeks, the deck was completed except for staining and adding ballisters and screen. The deck could not be stained until the treated wood dried. We stained the deck and had Brad come back in late September to finish the screening and installing the ballisters. We also asked them to replace shutters with those we had purchased seperately. We could not be more pleased with the outcome of both projects. Brad and his crew displayed excellent craftsmanship throughout the entire process. They were careful to detail, cleaned up the workplace each day. I would not hesitate to use his services again. His skills go beyond decks, so I would easily recommend he be contacted to discuss any potential remodeling projects.

Brad initially gave us an estimate for the addition to the current deck and a seperate estimate to upgrade the current deck.
The original plan was to add a 6 foot wide stairway to the current deck and add an additional deck area including a Pergola for a swing. I had the plans and Brad and Nick made it happen.
We discussed the different types of decking available.
After deciding on the type of material, we set a date to begin.
Brad and Nick did a very good job. They were neat, picked up at the end of every day. Hauled off all the old lumber and scraps.
They are very easy to work with in planning and changing plans.
In the pictures the deck has already been stained to protect the wood before the winter rains and snow.

We hired Brad after getting two estimates--he completely tore down and hauled away our old deck and built a beautiful new one using the best materials. It has been a year, and the deck is fantastic. It looks great, has weathered well, and is incredibly strong and sturdy. Brad went above and beyond to get the job done in a week. I would hire him for any carpentry project; his work was outstanding.

He did an awesome job. He put in the best bid of anyone else which was basically $4800 to completely rebuild the deck. We started the demo so for $200 he finished all the demo and had one of his guy move all the debris into a dumpster. One day one of his guys spent the entire day just moving the debris into the dumpster. He put in a gorgeous deck and uses really high quality lumber. He put 6 inch posts on everything and did one set of 6 foot wide stairs going down into our back yard. It's probably the most solid part of our house. I would highly recommend him. He brought lumber on the 16th and had the whole thing done on the 20th, that was even with a rain day and he still got the whole project done on time. They did a great job on clean up, we found a nail here or there but nothing huge. They did an incredible job. He even came back the next week to make sure a couple of things were finished off. If we had any other carpentry work we would definitely use him.

I wanted to surprise my husband by taking care of replacing the porch floor while he was out of town. I called Brad Merrill of Carpentry Solutions and after negotiating a reasonable price, he and his partner were on the job the next morning (who could ask for a better response time)! This company went above and beyond explaining everything they would do, how long the job would take and even let me go and see the type of wood they were suggesting - a Siberian Larch. Both gentlemen were extremely knowledgable, patient with all my questions and finished exactly when they said they would - two days. The floor turned out beautifully; so beautiful that now I must invest in nicer porch furniture!

The builder of my home used substandard materials on an upper covered porch. Just two years old, the wood as rotting severely. Brad's estimate was substantially lower than several others, and he did the work replacing the entire porch very well and very quickly. He recommended pressure-treated, kiln-dried tongue and groove lumber which looks great and is weathering well. In a second instance, I inadvertently stepped through the bedroom ceiling when I stepped off the flooring in the attic. Brad returned from vacation to help me out, and he did a very good job at a reasonable price. In this case, I needed help very quickly, and Brad delivered.
