Called for quote and they got back to me in 15 minutes. They worked me in the next day even though they appeared to be covered up. The entire experience was great: they are friendly, no-nonsense, and clearly competent. 110k maintenance on 2010 Honda Fit includes oil change, tire rotation, new spark plugs, and overall checkup. Also, I brought them a new A/C blower and resistor pack (needed replacing), which they agreed to install. Also replaced engine and cabin air filters. Not counting the blower/resistor labor, I was expecting this to be $400 or so ($650 at a dealer), but the grand total was $304. I don't imagine I'm going anywhere else from now on.

Went well once they knew the alternator was the problem they called and told and advised us we could save money by getting a rebuilt one instead of paying for a new one! Said the rebuilt would be just as good as new and it came with a warranty from the company who rebuilt!

Amazing service! Had it towed in the morning, had the problem diagnosed and repaired (for a very fair price) by the afternoon. This is the second time we've used this shop, and it's the only place we'll go in the future.

After several times around the block, I could see that cars were lined up on the main street waiting to get inside and have service. Although I had an appointment, I had to cancel and to instead to the Honda dealer for service. I believe with the fine reputation Hand W has for reasonable, professionally performed repairs, they have built an excellent clientele and should increase the size of their facility and staff. So I would like to give them a high rating but the fact that I could not get into the facility to leave my car for service forced me not to utilize the business.

Auto Service, Brakes
Being new to Chattanooga, I wasn't sure who was honest and reliable. I was told by the dealership that I should get new brakes, but they seem to push extra services that don't always turn out to be true. I read all the reviews on Angies list and liked what I read concerning H.Ws' work so went with them. They got me in righr away and were honest.I am a single female and know nothing about cars so I appreciated their helpfulnes. They did the work and were done when they said they would be. They were very pleasant and informative so I will definitly use them again!! A.Coady Hixson, Tenn.

I think the guys @ Hand W are great and would highly recommend them. They do quality work and stand behind it. We needed a new alternator, and it was about $100 cheaper here than at the dealer.

Everything went well. It took about four days to get everything done but we go to him because he is locally owned. The owner speaks to you directly and you know you are getting honest information and quotes.

I live in SC and my daughter is a student in Chattanooga. When her car broke down, Nick at Hand W looked at the diagnostics, talked with my mechanic here in SC and based on what they discussed, estimated a valve job that could reach $1,000 or more. After taking off the cover, he found a broken spring, replaced it with a part he had in his shop and had it back on the road for $200. He was very professional and timely. My mechanic was impressed and will recommend Hand W Auto Repair to folks he knows in the Chattanooga area. It was a relief to have a trustworthy person work on the car, as I had to do all the communication by phone.

I was originally having trouble getting our 2007 Nissan Altima to start. I called H and W on New Year's Eve and they were open when many other shops were closed. I told them to look at the starting problem and to change the oil and rotate the tires. I took the car in and the car was ready two days later as I was initially told. I was told the car has been starting fine and I still don't know what was giving the starting trouble. However, I appreciated that H and W didn't perform unnecessary services. I would definitely recommend them to honestly help you with your car repair needs.

I decided to take my son's 2004 Nissan X-terra to Hand W after the "service engine soon" light started coming on while he was driving it. I had already taken the vehicle to a local trusted dealership that I have relied upon for the past decade and where we had actually purchased the used vehicle originally. The dealership told us that there was an issue with the thermostat (among other things), but they were not willing to work on it since it wasn't a vehicle in their new inventory product line.
At that point, I checked Angie's List and found favorable reviews for Hand W. My son called Hand W and talked with the owner (Nick). Nick told my son that we could bring the vehicle to his shop and he'd take a look at it the next morning. We dropped the vehicle off and Nick called me the next day with a very thorough explanation of what needed to be done for this vehicle. I really appreciated the fact that Nick didn't mind answering my questions and that he was also very quick to point out what needed to be done immediately vs. what work could wait in case we needed to prioritize the repairs to fit our budget.
Since my son's vehicle had 102,000 miles on it and I knew that this was the normal time in which you can expect to replace a timing belt, I asked Nick to just go ahead and do all the recommended work right away. Furthermore, I felt very comfortable signing off on this work since Nick's recommendations were in agreement with the feedback that I'd gotten from the dealership that first looked at the vehicle. Of course, even if I hadn't had any other point of reference, I would have trusted Nick's recommendations. In working with Nick, you immediately realize that he is very professional, competent, honest, and dependable.
Nick told me that the work would take a few days to complete due to the fact that so many repairs were needed. He asked if that would be okay and I said yes. As expected, Nick called a few days later and told me that the vehicle was ready to be picked-up. He also gave me the total amount due and it agreed completely with his original estimate.
In conclusion, my family and I are very happy with the work performed by Hand W Auto Repairs. My son has had his vehicle back for several weeks now and everything is working well. We will certainly take our vehicles to this shop for any future repair work.

This Shop is owned by guy named Nick and he is most honest guy in town. He will evaluate problems, and then try to make repairs that need to be made to protect customer on out of pocket expenses where possible. He has worked on various cars of mine from Plymouth products, Trucks and to Lexus Cars I have owned for over 10 years. I highly recommend this place for all types of car repairs. He is very busy and has a large customer base.

My 98 Pontiac threw a rod on my way home to Chattanooga from Alabama. H&W had done work for me before and were very reasonable and fair in their charges and they had done good work. I had my red rocket towed to their shop and they told me the engine would have to be replaced. I found an engine in Wisconsin and had it shipped to them. Three days later it was ready and has been running strong ever since. H&W isn't a fancy garage with computerized records and billing. Their shop doesn't look like much, but believe you me, they're a bunch of honest and knowledgeable mechanics who do good work quickly and don't charge extreme prices.

I would definitely have work done by them. I haven’t decided what I want to have done with my car yet, but they were extremely professional. The place is super clean and it is a husband and wife team. They just gave me a lot of confidence that they really know what they are doing. The price they quoted me was over $2000, which included $700 or $800 of air-conditioning work to be done, timing belt which was around a $1,000 and a number of other things. I thought that their responsiveness was terrific. I walked in and gave them my list of things and they gave me a good estimate while I waited.

When the little "peck, peck, peck, peck" under the hood of my '98 Pontiac Grand Am turned into "Bangety, Bangety, Bang!!" between Birmingham and Chattanooga I figured old paint probably wasn't long for this earth. When it finally gave out near Tiftonia, I knew It was done for. Steve Ray in Ooltewah told me H & W was where my red rocket needed to go. I had it towed over there and Nick, whose last name I didn't catch, called me in a day or so saying it would need a new motor. "How much?" I asked, ready to hear the worst. He told me about $1100 labor not counting the motor. Not bad; I had paid $2500 for just a head gasket at a Chevy dealer just 4 months earlier. I found a low mileage motor with a 6 mo. guarantee on line in Wisconsin for $995 (including shipping). Nick called me after they got it and told me they should have it done the next day, and son-of-a-gun, he was right. When I picked it up, it roared to life on the first crank and hasn't given me any trouble since.
