Our 1994 home was in desperate need of updating. I was so overwhelmed, I had no idea where to start. After reading Dawn's reviews, I decided to give her a call. By the end of her initial appointment, we had decided on paint colors for our kitchen, cabinets, breakfast room, living room, foyer, upstairs hallway and master suite; discussed specific ideas for light fixtures throughout the house; discussed options for new flooring in our downstairs living areas; and gone over specific ideas for new living room furniture. We hired a painter whom Dawn recommended, and he did a fantastic job. I asked Dawn to go shopping with me, and after just a few short hours, we had selected all new living room furniture and several light fixtures (which was an amazing feat, since I'm usually a very indecisive shopper!). Dawn never wasted time and was always very mindful of our budget. She came up with quick, inexpensive ideas for each room that had immediate impact. She literally transformed our outdated house into a beautiful sanctuary that I'm proud to call my home! We couldn't be happier with the results. Our friends and neighbors love it - they can't believe the difference! Thank you, Dawn! We never could have achieved this without your patient, always understanding guidance! You're an absolutely incredible designer and person!!!

I originally had Dawn out for a consultation. She immediately put me at ease. I was very impressed with her eye for detail. She suggested styles and changes that could be easily be made on a budget. Be ready to take notes . I have several pages! She has tons of information. I learned a lot. I decided later to ask Dawn to design my living room. Wow! She did a fantastic job! I love her custom pillows and frames! Dawn can handle anything you ask of her. I hope to have her back in the future!

Dawn promptly arrived at our appt. time. She was very organized and we immediately got to work. She did not waste any of our time. She took notes on my likes and dislikes as well as my decorating "style". She listened to everything I had to say as far as my likes and dislikes and was never pushy. I was initially nervous about working with an interior designer, but she immediately made me feel at ease. She is very warm and very likable and I felt at ease with her immediately. She has a GREAT KNOWLEDGE of design and the current trends and I look forward to working with her in the future as my project will be a lengthy one. The color choices she recommended were PERFECT!! She was here for around 5 hours and I paid a 75.00 travel fee as she lives in Chattanooga and I am in Madison. It was MONEY WELL SPENT!! I VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND DAWN D. TOTTY DESIGNS for your design and decorating needs.

Could not have done it with out Dawn. When I first called her and told her we were getting ready to put our home on the market and were looking for staging advice (furniture placement and paint colors); she spent at least 30 minutes giving me very useful tips, things I would not have even thought about since we were selling our home ourselves (without a realtor). She then came over and we went room by room with her telling me what furniture needed to be removed, what color to paint the walls, what knick knacks to stay and remove, what pictures needed to stay and what needed to be replaced. I really expected her to tell us that we needed to buy or rent new furniture but she didn't. She has amazing low cost tricks to help with that. Be ready with a notebook so you can write everything down. She gets right down to business and doesn't waste any of your paid time chattering. Then we made out a list, I gave her a budget, and she went shopping for me. It was well worth every penny of her time. It would have taken me weeks to find what she was looking for and it was perfect and she is very thrifty with your money; no waste. Once we cleaned out the house and got everything painted, she came back and staged every room. She moved furniture, hung pictures, cleaned mirrors, whatever was needed to make it look perfect. We got an offer the second day. We kept in on the market while negotiation took place and every comment was how beautiful the home looked. We really believe that we could not have sold that fast if we hadn't had Dawn's help. Not only is she a great decorator but she has done this many times and had a lot of good sound advice for us. Can't wait to buy a new home and have her come decorate it.

Friends, every home needs to be Tottified!
Dawn Totty brings her discerning eye, friendly personality, and professional perspective in the front door with her. Somehow, she's able to come up with a step-by-step action plan that includes paint chips, dimensions, and a real vision...in 3 hours. (I've spent 3 hours in the paint aisle and walked away empty handed except for the Snickers I bought in the check-out lane because I was so depressed.) The thing is, her ability to communicate what it takes to get the job done without completely overwhelming her client can only be described as remarkable. Her recommendations are do-able, budget friendly, and make sense. Little sparks of creative design genius helped me to "see" my space with new appreciation. It was a joyful experience.

Dawn was excellent in choosing colors to paint our home and also in staging key rooms prior to putting our home on the market. I was in desperate need because the original designer chose a color that was not what I had in mind and it was not acceptable to my husband. Our painter suggested we work with Dawn and I am very grateful to have met her and have her help. She worked around our schedule and with our immediate needs, as I had about seven painters in my house with a LOT of paint purchased that we didn't like or think would help sale our home. Fortunately, with some begging and prayer, Dawn was able to come the next day and work with the painters and choose colors that look great! We were able to salvage some of the other paint, since it was already purchased, for one of the rooms and it worked out great. After the painting was complete, Dawn came back and worked with our movers to place our furniture back in our house in a way that is open and beautiful. One of my sons said " this has so much feng shui - I love it" and his twin brother said" see mom, I told you we don't need to move." We are thrilled with the results of Dawn Totty's work. She is very professional, kind, and understood exactly what we needed and worked within our timeframe. Once we sale our current house, I really hope to have her help with our new one!

I'm a guy who knows squat about what accent color goes with a wall color...so why does my wife ask me such things? We recently moved into a new house, one we absolutely love...carry me out feet first last house we will ever buy kinda love. With this move my lovely bride wanted to decorate with a modern classy feel...I'm neither of those things...enter Dawn Totty who is both!
I really felt bad because my wife kept asking my opinion on this or that and I couldn't help. Today my wife would tell you the smartest thing I have done in a long time is call Dawn and ask for her help! Dawn came in and met with us, asked tons of questions, and told us exactly what to do. She was certainly open to listening to any ideas we had...honestly we just wanted someone that could put the kitchen, living room, and dining room together and us love it at the end of the process. Dawn went above and beyond by scouting out items for our rooms, buying and pulling together great looking pieces...knowing exactly how to bring her vision to life. She never bought anything without our approving the purchase, but we never saw the pieces until the reveal. She and Kirby (her husband and strong back) came over on Sunday, we left for lunch, and returned to a new look. I knew Dawn hit a home run when I saw the tears in my wife's eye...yes sir, I'm the smartest husband ever! Dawn knows how to pinch a penny until it screams; while we didn't give her a specific budget she knew we were budget minded. All-in-all we could not be happier or have a higher opinion of Dawn Totty's talent and passion for decorating. Gentlemen do yourself a favor and call in Dawn...you won't be sorry.

I was so Impressed. I have been Tottyfied! Dawn Totty needs to change her name to Rising Dawn Totty because that is what is going to happen to her after Chattanooga finds out about this interior decorator and professional stagger that is new to our area.
We have an older home that we need to sell. It needed quite a bit of updating before we could put it on the market. Dawn came in and immediately saw the potential. She started telling me things that I needed to do within the first two or three minutes of her walking in the door. I stood there with my mouth wide open in awe of this women. She looked and me and said, "Are you writing this down?" I loved her from that moment on. She took control of the situation and got it done!
We had a very small budget but that didn't stop Dawn. She never gave the budget a second thought. If anything, she helped to save me more money by suggesting lower priced materials, and by finding me things for a great price. She had made a beautiful top for my kitchen island made out of the most gorgeous European wood I've ever seen. My old, ugly, out of date home is now a lovely, stylish, and did I mention really uncluttered (once Dawn got a hold of it ), home ready to sell. The only problem is, I don't want to sell it anymore. Dawn went over and above my expectations. I cannot say enough about this women. Her work ethic and her integrity are beyond reproach. I Cant wait to see what she does in my next house where I will hopefully have a better budget. :)

Within three days, Dawn transformed our dated, tired old "country kitchen" into a "blow-your-mind" gorgeous, stylish, magazine-worthy residential focal point; and she did it all within our budget.
From the first contact, it was evident that she was a pro. She listened attentively to our needs, offered suggestions, and dove enthusiastically into this project.
Having recently bought the home, we were up to our necks in listings showcasing endless kitchens, all lovely, and all the same... stained wood cabinets, dark granite counter tops and fancy appliances. We wanted something different, and Dawn was just the person to provide it.
She encouraged us to save money by keeping the same cabinets, routing out the centers, installing glass and adding LED lighting. Custom colors are her specialty, and she helped us chose a unique dark blue for the lower level, and an interesting, icy white for the uppers.
We ordered quartz counter tops for the sink area, and she provided custom-crafted butcher block counter tops for either side of the stove. She provided a custom mirrored back splash which reflects back the beautiful view from the kitchen window, and makes our somewhat small kitchen look much more spacious. Other creative touches include a chalkboard wall for our shopping lists and fun scribbles, and a magnetic knife rack.
She also provided priceless advice in other areas such as lighting, and staging the cupboards by arranging the dishes attractively and helping us select additional "accent" pieces.
The adjoining dining room features a dark blue, "focal" wall, and the other walls are white, giving the room a lovely, warm Mediterranean feel.
We got a fantastic kitchen-dining room make-over in record time, for a great price!
