The job involved placing 3 boulders and several plants.  They came out on a cold day and did the work quickly and to my satisfaction.

contracted to have hillside landscaped. Amount and size of plants was underwhelming. Asked for a store credit to add plants to fill in bare areas. Was told it would be considered...never heard response.
Response from America's Gardens
"[Member name removed] comments are accurate in that we did perform a landscaping project at his house. The area that he wanted landscaped was quite large and his budget small relative to the project size. As I explained to [Member name removed] when he expressed concern at the completion of the project, we had to operate within the budget that we were given. In order to achieve this, a landscape contractor can choose a higher volume of smaller size plants or a lower volume of larger plants. In consideration of our conversations with [Member name removed] prior to the project start date, we choose the former. We explained this strategy to [Member name removed] and that given a little time, the plants would mature. Please keep in mind that the shrubs that were installed were no less than three gallon liner sizes and evergreen ground cover and perennials no less than one gallon. The project area is on the side of a mountain, therefore populated with a lot of natural trees. Because of this, the additional plant products can be overlooked until the reach a closer maturity to the existing landscape. Another significant consideration on this project was the terrain of not only the landscape area but in getting to the area to be landscaped. Because of the steepness of both as well as lack of access (side of a mountain) we were void of an automation so as I explained to [Member name removed], the entire project had to be done manually which increased the job time, thereby the project cost. I believe that given the environment in which we operated coupled with the budget in which we were given, over time, the plants and selections that were made will meet/exceed the customers' request. I also believe that those facts were more than adequately communicated to the customer."

The initial design meeting explored what I said I wanted and included a long discussion about my ability to maintain the garden, what plants might thrive, how we intended to use the space, what colors we liked, and so forth.  We had a second meeting where the design proposal was presented. We worked together to tailor it a little more and looked at some plant selections, to make sure our favorite plants, colors, and shapes were included.  I was pleased that the design was creative and functional, with just the right amount of plants and no fussiness.  We worked together at every step, up to the installation, where minor tweaks were made after the first day. I was so impressed by design ideas and finishing touches that wouldn't have even occurred to me.  The work went quickly and efficiently.
