The contractor was absolutely horrible. He ripped us off for over three thousand dollars. His name is Joe Cioffe. He did maybe three quarters of the work. We had paid for the entire job. He never showed up to complete the job even after repeated contact. He always had an excuse. I even ran into him in person during Thanksgiving time. He has not been here since the 1st of July. He lied really well. He sat with my family and ate and talked about how he got his work ethic from his grandfather. He told us all these stories. He was very polite but lied right to your face. He even lied right to my face when I saw him in person at Thanksgiving. I kept telling him to come back and complete the work. He knew he owed me a door. But it wasn't just the door. He had to fix my daughter's too and I asked him about that. He acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. But it was in the contract. I have got emails from him. The only way to contact him was through emails. He wouldn't answer the phone. I would never use him again.

Response from Cioffe Construction
The member has made several negative remarks about my business, my work ethic, my performance, and me in general! I would like to dispute the validity of her claims. I was called to her house, in part, because she had complaints about the previous contractors that she hired to work on her house. I was informed that her brand new roof leaked and her brand new gutters leaked also. I was asked to prepare a quote to repairs these issues, along with some other handyman tasks inside of her house. I sent her a proposal, and she accepted and hired me. She and I communicated on a very regular basis from that time until the time I arrived on her job. If I was ever late, or needed to postpone an appointment with her, she was notified and agreed on a time of rescheduling. I arrived on her job, on schedule, and performed all of the work she agreed to hire me for. She also made several changes to our original proposal. I recorded these changes on a change order and she also approved of these changes. While working on her house, she asked me for other proposals for other jobs, which she did not hire me for. There are no records in existence of a request or a proposal to work on her daughter's door. She has made no attempt to contact me, for any reason, or by any method, since July. She has my cell phone number, my email address, and apparently my residential address as well. My policy, with all of my customers, is to collect payment at the conclusion of the job. Only in cases of very lengthy jobs will I ask for labor payments before the job is complete. Then, however, I will only require payments that are equal to labor already performed. I also ask for material deposits to be paid when the materials arrive on the jobsite. I do not ask my customers to pay for anything that is not on their job. I followed this same policy while I worked for her. Her complete job, materials and labor, totalled $1,860.00. I do not understand where her figure equals over $3,000.00 and I certainly did not rip her off of anything. She paid my labor fee only after she was satisfied that I had finished her job to her satisfaction. Her statements are slanderous and unmeritted. I have attached, to this email, copies of her proposal, work changes, and her invoice. I think this will provide adequate proof that her statemants are entirely false and you will remove this negative review from your website! I expect immediate response from you in regards to this email. Please contact me if I can assist any further. Sincerely, Joe Cioffe Cioffe Construction Co.
