American Fence and Gate installed a new black metal pool fence for our home, along with a custom enclosure for our pool equipment using composite material. Milton was great throughout the entire process with quote, regular communication regarding install, and followup to ensure quality work. The Team did an amazing job - we love our new backyard!

The quality of the workmanship was extremely good. Milton, his wife, and his crew were all extremely pleasant to work with. There were a couple of times that involved significant miscommunication, but Milton was extremely fair and did a large chunk of the 4 rail farm fence at cost. The constant rain only compounded the length of the project. There were two things that keep me from issuing an A grade. First was the amount of debris left behind, some of which (due to coronavirus) I still haven't had the opportunity to haul to the dump. Second is the lack of response for the last month with regard to the nasty 75 mph storms we had in early May. A tree dropped on part of the fence and damaged it. We just wanted to know how much it'd cost to fix so as to determine if we should bothering filing an insurance claim. The fence is 4 months old and it was $20k+. Not an unreasonable ask for a simple callback and estimate. At this point it's just easier to move on and request an estimate from someone else. All in all, extremely high quality work, good people, and poor responsiveness.

After several estimates for a driveway gate with automatic opener, I went with American because they could provide me what I needed, a solid wooden driveway gate instead of the standard aluminum other companies proposed. And I am so glad. They actually make the gate themselves so weren't bound by what was out there. From start to finish, they communicated with me and when the work actually started the guy doing it called me, introduced himself, gave me his cell number and told me was starting work by taking down the existing gate and putting in the steel posts. I told him I appreciated the heads up since I'd need to board my large dogs. He said no need to to that, he'd put up a temporary gate. I appreciated it but thought, I'd better make arrangements anyway since it would probably be the mesh type stuff my dogs could bust through or jump with ease. I got home and found hard wire fencing stapled to either side of the fence opening and six feet high. Totally secure. Did anyone really provide customer service like this anymore? Well they do at American Fence and Gate. For the next 3 days, my gate guy Ray, took down that fence, did his work and put it back up when he left, until the wood was installed on the steel frame and the job was completed. He even put my garbage can back inside the temporary fencing for me since I'd had to haul it through the house to be left out on the curb that morning. I had given up hope of ever dealing with people like this, but Milton, Eunice and Ray put their customers first. Restored my faith. Thank You.

Milton and his team were fabulous to work with! We had a privacy fence and motorized gate installed, and we could not be more thrilled with the result! The fence is beautiful -- straight across the top and very sturdy. In fact, we had a very large tree fall, and even though the fence was built around the roots the the fence hardly moved. We get compliments from everyone on our fence, and we can't wait to use Milton and his team to fence in our front yard!

American Fence and Gate is a top-notch operation. Milton, Eunice and their installation teams delivered on all of their commitments and exceeded our expectations. We did our homework and compared multiple companies and their products before making a commitment. Milton delivered on all of our requests that ranged from multiple visits to the property, to providing real material samples for comparison. Once the project began, he did a fine job coordinating installation timelines to go along with our new driveway installation, as well as timing with our stone masons who built the fence columns, and finalizing the gate automation and programming. We sought and received a premium product and service and had it delivered at a fair price. I can't find a reason why I wouldn't do business with them again, or give a strong recommendation. They are a local company, run by Milton and his wife, use local crews and specialists, and sell American made (right out of Michigan) products and materials. Thank you Milton, Eunice, Robert, Victor and crew! We love our Elite Fence, Door King gate operators, and Summit Control access control system.

The installation team was great and worked very hard. The finished product looks so good! The initial estimate was done quickly and my needs were listed to. The only thing, and it is minor, I had to call several times to remind to take payment for the completed job and even when I did call, it was several days before they put the charge through.

We called American Fence & Gate and Milton came out the next day. His estimate was very fair and they were able to get the materials ordered right away. The following week, the fence was installed. His folks worked most of the day and did a great job. We are very satisfied with the entire process.

I seriously can't say enough about Milton and his crew.  They are wonderful, hardworking folks who really care about their customers and making them happy.  They installed a gate around my property and even when they ran into some serious rock formations when putting in the posts, they didn't up the cost and worked hard to get the project done in a timely manner.  They also installed an automated gate in the driveway that turned out great!  Milton is always there when I need him.

Wonderfully! From start to finish, Milton and his team were courteous, professional, and hardworking. When I first called American Fence, I spoke with Milton's wife about needing a fence for our two pups. It led to a conversation about rescue animals and the dog's they'd had in the past. She talked to me like a friend, not like a client - which went a very long way with me. I met with Milton just a few days after and within a week, our fence was going up! The crew that installed our fence was so amazing! They worked until well beyond dark each night and completed the project in a timely manner. From beginning to end, the project took two weeks. We, and our puppies couldn't be happier! I would definitely use them again and will recommend them highly to anyone in need of fencing/gates.

I originally contacted American Fence to get a second quote on installation of fencing but when I was on the phone with Eunice, we had got to talking about all the projects I am doing around my home currently and never realized they did decking.  When Milton came out, I decided to get a quote for them to do the deck as well.  The original contractor who was going to do it was so far out, I would have waited until end of February which wouldn't work for me.  American Fence was able to complete the deck job much sooner and the price was just as good as the other contractor.  Milton even told me that the current deck was not up to code so they even fixed that.  The prior contractor had never even mentioned that.  They do use subcontractors, but Milton was upfront about that and I was very pleased with the subcontractor he used!!  The new deck looks amazing and couldn't be happier!!  I plan on doing my fence with them as well!!

They were very responsive to our initial call and came quickly for an estimate.  They were very patient with all our questions as we were deciding which fence to go with.
They stayed in contact and installed on the date promised.  The workers were great and worked promptly, cleaned up, answered our questions, and worked great with us.  We cannot say enough good things about how pleased we are with the service and the product.
 We will definitely refer this company to anyone that is looking for a fence.  The quality of their product, installation, and service met our very high expectations.

FANTASTIC!  We tend to be somewhat fussy about the quality of work done on our home and property. We have quite high standards. This company is one of the best service providers we have used. Professional, efficient, kind, good at solving problems. Our gate and fence have been in place now for a couple of years, and we are still VERY VERY pleased with the work. All the workers were pleasant and easy to have on the property. They cleaned up all work related messes beautifully. If you need a fence or gate, this is the company to use.

If this experience had not been so FRUSTRATING and PAINFUL to endure, it would have probably been down right COMICAL, because it was like "The Bad News Bears" do fencing! No one had a CLUE what was going on! I've NEVER seen a more DISORGANIZED and POORLY MANAGED contractor! This is the first time that I feel like the reviews on Angie's List have COMPLETELY LET ME DOWN! This contractor has EXCELLENT RATINGS but performed HORRIBLE WORK! (It has been OVER FOUR MONTHS and my fence STILL ISN'T FINISHED!!!)

One HUGE RED FLAG that everyone should know about UP-FRONT, is that THIS COMPANY SUBS THEIR JOBS OUT TO UNSUPERVISED FREELANCE SUBCONTRACTORS, who work for MULTIPLE fencing companies. What really disappointed me to learn, was not only does American Fence sub out their jobs, but that the subcontractors who they hire are allowed to run MULTIPLE "CREWS", which means that for the majority of the work that was performed on my property, the SUBCONTRACTOR who they hired (who may have actually been QUALIFIED to install my fence correctly) was not even present on my property to oversee the work being done, but instead other laborers where left here to perform the bulk of the work, often times without a CLUE what they were doing!

They had no idea what type of fence they were supposed to be installing, which way the fence faced, how the chain-link was supposed to meet up with the aluminum, what the widths of the gates were, what hardware was supposed to be installed, where the fence lines were supposed to be placed, or generally how to install the materials correctly without damaging them!  

Then on managements side: the wrong STYLE of Radiance Aluminum fence was ordered and installed. The chain-link was never initially ordered, so we had to wait ANOTHER three weeks for it to come in, AFTER we had already waited a month for the aluminum. The correct hardware wasn't ordered. Their communication with the subs (and myself) was HORRIBLE! Management failed to relay the details of the job to their subs. My wife and I spent a GREAT DEAL OF TIME communicating with management about how we wanted the fence installed, but since management wasn't performing the work, that information never made it to the person's who needed it. When we tried to instruct the subs directly, their understanding of the English language was extremely limited and we never really knew if they understood what we were saying, until it was done wrong... again...    

Then the subs went away, leaving the fence improperly installed, with several damaged sections (both aluminum and chain link) from mishandling the materials during installation, and they have never returned to correct their work or fix the damage.

I have reached-out to Milton and Eunice nearly 100 TIMES trying to get them to FINISH MY FENCE and FIX the damage caused by their subs! On a few occasions Milton came over himself for an hour or two, reset a couple of posts, installed some gate hardware, and made minor adjustments to our fence (which I assisted him with). Milton said that he's been unable to get his subs back out to my property because they have been busy working for another fencing company in Rutherford County. Yet for some reason Milton and Eunice have refused to hire another subcontractor to complete this work! (Milton told me that he has not paid the first subcontractor yet, so they should have the funds to hire someone else to COMPLETE my fence CORRECTLY!)

I've lost days worth of MY TIME trying to supervise this project myself, communicating to Milton and Eunice what work is still outstanding, providing them with photos and videos of the damaged and incorrectly installed fence. Milton has promised me numerous times that the repairs would be COMPLETED by that "Wednesday", yet months keep rolling by!

I PAID THEM in full for this fence at the contract signing on 3/19/2015. I'll NEVER make that mistake again! I have NO DOUBT that if I still owed them $2,500 that this job would have been done two months ago! Yet now week after week goes by and I hear nothing from them, unless I initiate it, again, and again, and again...

The two things that disappoint me the most about Milton and Eunice (the owners of this company) is that their WORD doesn't seem to mean ANYTHING to them! They have failed to keep SO MANY COMMITMENTS without even showing me the courtesy of contacting me, to inform me what went wrong and reset the expectation for when they will complete that work. Secondly, they don't seem to take any PRIDE in the QUALITY of their WORK. Milton sees everything that I see, he KNOWS what is WRONG with my fence, but if I don't nag him about it every week, then I have no doubt that I'd never see him or anyone from his company again! Milton has come right out and told me before that he sees something wrong with my fence, but made no attempt to fix it, until I've found it and pressured him to make the correction. Where is the pride in that? What DOES their company BRAND represent?

Likewise I found it disturbing that Milton looked for every possible way to BLAME ME for his subs mistakes. That his default assumption was that I was in error, until the evidence was overwhelming. He was not willing to take responsibility for the work performed by his subs, until he had no other reasonable choice.

In my experience, the quality produced by their company is totally the luck of the draw, with whichever subcontractor that you get! The subs that they used on my job, I would have NEVER knowingly hired to install my fence! I hired American Fence because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews on Angie's List, after multiple correspondences with Milton, because I felt that I could safely TRUST them to install a HIGH QUALITY FENCE for me! I didn't go with the low bidder! American Fence was my HIGHEST BIDDER! Milton sold me on the QUALITY of the "Radiance Aluminum" that they offered, and I was convinced that American Fence was a HIGH QUALITY Brentwood residential fencing company. What I got was TOTALLY DIFFERENT THOUGH! In hindsight, I would have preferred a slightly lower grade fencing material (like "Elite") with a HIGHER QUALITY INSTALLATION any day of the week!    

I will acknowledge that in the BEGINNING, Milton was a tremendous help in assisting me with the PURCHASE of this fence. Milton took the time to really study my plans and educate me about the fencing materials available. Milton is a FANTASTIC SALES MAN! But AFTER he got my money, it was ALL down hill from there! 3-4 weeks for installation turned into 3-6 months!

We passed the four month mark the other day since I handed them my pile of money and I'm still waiting... 

Milton and Eunice are very friendly personable people! I wouldn't mind going out to dinner with them, hanging out with them, shooting the breeze with them, but I would NEVER, EVER, EVER HIRE THEM AGAIN!

Buyer BEWARE!

At the very least, don't trust them with your money up-front!!! I sure wish that I hadn't!

Milton Thompson, the co-owner of American Fence and Gate, accused me of "EXTORTION" for trying to utilize the "Complaint Resolution Process" offered by Angie's List to resolve this matter. Then he THREATENED to take LEGAL ACTION against me for leaving a NEGATIVE REVIEW!

How ARROGANT, BELITTLING, ATROCIOUS, and INSULTING his behavior has been throughout this project!

From start to finish, I could not have been happier with the service received from American Fence and Gate. Every member of their team was professional, caring, and an absolute pleasure to deal with. Pricing was competitive with other quotes I received but the treatment I encountered from my initial call to receiving the quote lead me to a "no brainer" decision as to who would perform the work. The quality of the finished product was excellent and the follow-up after the work was completed was great as well, making sure I was happy with the finished product. 
Customer service is lost with the majority of companies nowadays, American Fence and Gate understands how to conduct good business but more importantly how to treat people. I will be utilzing them for future projects and spreading the word about my great experience!

After contacting several fencing companies only to have them not show up or follow-up with quotes, I met with Milton of American Fence.  He and his wife were lovely to deal with - very responsive and professional.  Though the manufacturing for my gate took a bit longer than originally anticipated, the quality of the work is excellent.  These gates are costly but no more so than others in the market and it was a great investment for my home.  They also replaced a few small sections of fencing and it all was done efficiently and looks great.  I have already referred a friend to them and will use them again when I have additional fencing work done.  Thank you, Milton!

I don't have enough good things to say about this company.  The owner, Milton, is incredibly personal yet professional.   He was always there for questions or concerns. Milton stands behind his work and is obviously passionate and incredibly knowledgeable about his trade.   I highly, highly recommend American Fence and Gate.

We had a section of our 6' privacy fence blow down in mid-December.  They came out the next day to give an estimate, and were able to do the work we needed within two days.  They did an excellent job, cleaned up after themselves and were easy and efficient to work with.
