Herder Tree service

We are building a new home and wanted to remove a hickory tree which was too close to the house for our comfort plus we were not happy about the thought of having to pick up hickory nuts every time we cut the grass. The builder refused to take down the tree and said we would have to pay for it if we wanted it down. We wanted it down before the house was complete and the yard finished...knowing this would be easier and cheaper than waiting till we moved in.

My husband called Herder Tree Service on Monday (which was a holiday), Judd returned his call the next day and gave us an estimate that afternoon. We chose Herder Tree Service for the job because they had the best price, great reviews and Judd seemed to be a super nice person. We had to provide the builder with proof of insurance and get their blessing before doing the work. The work was scheduled for Thursday morning and by 10 am all was done, including stump removal and clean up.

Judd was fabulous to work with and very understanding of our situation with the builder. We highly recommend Herder Tree Service.

Owner and workers were very professional; they were on time and did a fabulous job cleaning up the debris. I am very pleased with their work and I would call them again when needed. The cost was competitive and very fair.

It went very well. He called me back and scheduled an appt for the next day and then showed up a couple of hours early. They were neat and very professional throughout the day. They raked and cleaned up and left our yard in great shape.

Working with Herder tree service was a great experience. I had to get permission for them to access through my neighbors lot, and they were able to schedule me the next day, crane and all. It was one of the best and most professional contracted experiences I have ever had.

The owner contacted me on my cell phone and gave me a written estimate and left it for me in my mailbox. Very professial in my opinion and when I told him to proceed he worked with my schedule to meet with me to write out the contract and answer any questions i might have and set a time. The other tree sevice I called for an estimate just wrote out a price on the back of a card. Not very professional at all and It was more espensive than Herder.

Herder Tree Service came out to give us an estimate the day we called, and were able to fit us in the next morning. They came on time, were polite and efficient, and cleaned up everything - including hoisting a leaf blower up to the worker high in the tree so he could blow the scraps off our porch roof. They charged us their minimum, and because that was really more than the job would have cost they trimmed a few other small branches gratis. Judd Herder was present too - it's always nice when the owner is actively involved in the business. We would definitely use them again.

They were great got here when they were expected even a little early did the work very fast and professional cleaned up afterwards better than expected would recommend them to anyone wanting tree service.

Prompt, professional and reasonably priced, that sums up my experience with Herder Tree Service. I contacted 4 tree services I found here on Angieslist. Judd Herder was the first to return my call, the same day I contacted all 4 services. He provided me a written estimate for $510 the following day, two of the others contacted took about a week to get back to me. His price ended up being the next to lowest one I was given; the low bid guy only beat Herder's number by $10 and he just called me to give me a price over the phone and Herder beat the highest number I got by $165. The cedar tree trimming work was added the day they came to do the work, $50 additional was charged plus $10 added for payment by credit card.
Herder arrived at my house exactly at the time when they said they would, and immediately went to work. All of the guys working were dressed in a professional manner considering the work they were doing and all interacted with me in a courteous manner. I had to go to work shortly after they arrived, so I paid Mr. Herder ahead of the work being finished and left them to complete everything while I was gone. I was a little apprehensive about doing this, but that evening I discovered that had nothing to worry about, everything looked great-- the trees were gone and ground down, my cedar tree looked much better after the trimming done and there were no stray limbs or debris remaining!
I highly recommend this company-- they will do the job right, in a professional way and don't charge an arm and a leg to do it.

I received a recommendation for Herder Tree Service from my lawn maintenance contractor, Taylor Milliken of Elite Lawncare. Judd Herder visited my property on August 31 and gave me a price quote that was acceptable . I verified his references on his web site and he has his insurance company e-mail me the proof of both his Worker's Comp and Liability insurance on September 1. I authorized him to proceed that afternoon and Judd and his crew, Keith and Jarrett, showed up at my house promptly at 8 AM on September 2, as agreed. They were clean, polite, respectful and had all the equipment and confidence required to accomplish the very difficult and dangerous task described above.
In summary, the entire experience was SUPERB! My wife and I spend most of the day watching Jarrett climb and trim trees and Judd and Keith remove and shred the debris as it fell. They worked on a steep slope on which there were paths, steps, railings, landscape lights and at the bottom of which was a boat dock containing an expensive boat. Throughout the process, we asked that additional small limbs be removed while Jarrett was in a tree and he quickly and courteously accommodated our requests. Judd Herder is definitely a WORKING OWNER! He worked along with Keith and Jarrett as a skilled team.
By 4 PM when they left my property, all the contracted work had been done WITHOUT ANY DAMAGE, and ALL debris had been cleaned up (including some that they did not create).
My wife and I could not be more pleased with Judd Herder and has crew! It was one of the most pleasant (and interesting) experiences we have ever had with a contractor. Strong recommendation here to not consider anybody else!

We received bids from many tree cutting services but many of them were unprofessional. Herder Tree Service worked with our budget to help us get the tree cut. They showed up when they said, worked quickly and efficiently, were very professional and did a great job.

Herder Tree Service removed a very large, rotten hackberry from my backyard. It was a job that required a lot of experience and skill due to the massive size of the tree, a lot of weight on the tree very high up, limbs very close to my home and my neighbor's home and being close to a power line. Due to very large rotten limbs, the tree was unstable but Herder knew exactly how to approach the job safely. Judd Herder and his skilled team did the job to perfection. I was more than satisfied with the job they did for me. They arrived on time. In fact, they knew I was anxious to get the tree down as soon as possible and the owner called and asked if they could start a day earlier. I was thrilled. They got the whole tree down except the large base in one day and told me they would be back at 8:00 a.m. to cut the base and grind the stump. I was impressed when they arrived at 7:30 a.m. They don't waste any time on your job. They get right to work. I think Herder's experienced tree cutter was up in this massive tree and the first limb was falling to the ground within minutes of arrival. The owner and entire crew are clean cut, professional and pleasant to work with. I had asked for proof of insurance and workman's comp when Judd Herder came to quote the job and he provided it right away. His rapid response and follow up to get the job was great as well. He does what he says he will do, when he says he will do it. I had a very bad experience removing two other trees in my yard. The other tree company took all summer long to get those trees down so I was weary from that experience and was a nervous wreck when the other company was cutting my trees. Not with Herder, they built my confidence the moment they stepped onto my property. I wasn't anxious at all while they were completing the job. They demonstrated that they knew exactly what they were doing.Judd Herder even threw in a couple of pleasant extra surprises. I had a crate mryle bush that was going to have to be cut down to allow access to the yard. I was a bit disappointed about that because I liked the color it provided in my yard this time of year. Judd Herder, dug the bush up, placed it in a trash can and had one of his workers water it. How awesome that he was thoughtful enough to do that. They will leave your yard in clean as well. He takes pains in the placement of his equipment to avoid any damage to your lawn and property.After having had a nighmare experience with a tree company that overpromised and greatly undelievered, I was so thankful to find a professional team like the one at Herder Tree Company. Trying to do business with a company that drags the job out, drives all over your yard, damages your lawn and has unreliable equipment can cause a homeowner a great deal of stress but you won't experience that with Judd Herder's Tree Service. His equipment is up-to-date, his team is well trained and they will get the job done.I will tell people from now on, if you can't afford to have Judd Herder Tree Service remove your tree, don't do it at all!
