Sweet Home Improvements and Roofing

No formal contract. We agreed to have this business repair some flooring for us. An estimate was given of $1,575. and we agreed. Work was to begin the following day and contractor asked for money up front to pay for supplies. We paid a total of $575. up front. Contractor said that the job would take 2 days to complete. Failed to show up the first day. On second day excuses were offered and he finally showed up at 2:10 Friday afternoon Aug 12, he left at 4:30. He asked to come back the next morning (Saturday) and Sunday as well. Called mid morning on Sat. to say his truck was not running. Called early Sunday and said he was not coming. On several occasions he asked for more money but we refused. He did work Mon, Tues. Wed. of the following week, but did not accomplish much. Intuition told me that I needed to end this quickly before we were out more money. He suggested that he might have to "consult with his attorney" and has demanded that we pay the balance without finishing the work. On checking today, I found that he has an F with the BBB, several legal claims against him, and 3 bad reports on a web site called "Rip Off Reports". There are also reports that he has operated under someone else's license that had expired in 1991. I cannot say at this point if the work he did was quality. Trust was broken by not showing up and having thin excuses. I needed to end this now before I spend more time and money.

Initially he was very nice, but one he had our money there just was no work being done.  When we asked for refunds and eventually fired him, he kept all of our money.  He admitted to spending part of it on his brother's medications.  If he had just been honest with us we could have set up some payments or something to help him make it right.

Sweet Home Improvements and Roofing was excellent. We have not had a leak since he has come. He was very impressive. He was very kindly. He was located 40 miles away. He was out here the next day. He is very professional and very personable. I trusted him. His warrantee is what sold me. He described how he was going to fix it and what the problems were. He called back to see if everything was right. I would not hesitate to call him again. It was well worth the money.
