R & S Construction

R&S construction claimed to do remodeling, build decks, paint, and any type of home remodeling work. He walked out in the middle of the job and left the job incomplete. He left with a bunch of our money. When I called him he told us to "screw off." He got a third of the way done with the job, maybe a little less, and realized it was a much bigger job than he had expected. We had gotten close with several people to do the whole house. And most of them said "I can do this, but I can not do this other stuff." And so when we compared their quotes with his quotes, because he said he could do everything. He was actually a couple of hundred dollars higher than everybody else added together to do the other jobs. And I said "it would be nice to have just one person taking care of everything, so we are going to go with him." And after he came to the job he said "I am not getting paid enough, I am not getting enough money, I need more money. I did not quote enough for this. This is not enough money, I can not do this for this." They were here for two months, and he originally estimated six weeks. And they were here for two months and didn't get a third of it done. We had to hire a new contractor and bring other people in. And they have said "My God what was this man thinking?" He took down ceiling fans and the screws are no where to be found. We had to buy new screws and this and that. The light over the table he stepped on the globe and broke it. I will tell you best two. They put up the deck, they were securing it from the inside of my basement, they stepped on top of my dryer and dented the lid. We were having the popcorn elemenated from all of the ceilings in the rooms. They gathered all this wet mushy stuff and loaded it into very thin garbage bags and left the bags in the corner of one of the rooms. It was leaking through the bags on to the sub-floor. The sub-floor is wet, and it had been two weeks since they had removed the popcorn from the ceiling. My husband got a trash can, was lifting the heaviest bag, got it even with the top of the trash can and it burst. It was late at night, we were covered in this stuff. Then we had to clean it all up and take a shower before we could go to bed. This was a complete nightmare. I would not recommend them. We are suing him. The last time he was here, he worked half a day, went to lunch and didn't come back. He would come in after nine, left by 2:30-3:00 in the afternoon, and always took an hour to an hour and a half lunch. After two weeks he finally said "I can't do it for what I quoted, I need more money." I would not use him again in the future.
