Well pleased with the work and professionalism of Chris Irving, the owner of this small family owned business.  The installation was scheduled, and Chris arrived right on time.  He responded to questions and didn't hesitate to check the work and make necessary adjustments. Since Chris is the owner, the price was project-based rather hourly rates which is good for the customer. Pam, his wife, handles the office and phone calls so he is able to focus on the job and not stop to take a bunch of calls. Qualified, conscientious and worked with us on doing the job.  We will use this company again and recommend him to our friends and family.

We first found Irving Electric about 2 yrs ago through Angie's List. Their references were impeccable. Chris Irving is the owner and electrician. Scheduling is flexible. Their prices are fair. Their workmanship is top tier. Their attention to detail is the best we have ever seen by an electrician. Chris carries around a bucket for trash, and a shop vac for any debris (he leaves things cleaner than they were to start!). He has a marvelous truck with all kinds of spare parts meticulously organized for unexpected repairs. He has all kinds of wonderful ideas for new projects and to use 'the latest' in electric new technology (such as wireless switches, and motion sensing on/off switches). He's creative and willing to take-on tough projects, involving fishing wires through walls and trenching outside. He even figured out a way to add 'invisible' LED strip lighting to some kitchen cabinets with glass doors (with a suggestion of whom to contact in Memphis to custom make some glass shelves so that the light could shine through the whole height of each cabinet). Chris works efficiently and thoroughly. We have come to rely on Irving Electric for all of our electrical projects. Upon completion of his most recent visit to our home just yesterday, we suspect we have saved several hundred dollars by his knowledge to repair existing exterior wall sconces and post lamps by uninstalling, removing insect build-up, removing two broken bulbs (there since before we owned the home), and replacing several sockets. He is careful with our money, and has earned our trust. Interestingly, despite the large number of projects completed in our home, Irving Electric has never asked us to offer a reference for other customers. It seems likely to us that they have so many happy customers, that our words of appreciation are just part of the choir. We already have our next project planned, of course involving Irving Electric. We are pleased to submit this excellent review to Angie's List!

We called for an ESTIMATE. The guy showed up, spent 2 hours looking around, found what he thought was the problem and went ahead and fixed half of it. We had 2 other electricians lined up to review the problem, one of which said that he would not have charged that much. Very expensive, under handed and would not negotiate at all, we still have a light that is not working that was supposed to be part of this fix. WILL NEVER USE AGAIN!!!!!!on. Cost $150 was not worth it.
Response from IRVING ELECTRIC LLC
"This service call brought up red flags from the beginning. The original call came on December 7 from a customer who requested repair of outlets at her son's house at the Wrenwood address. (We have never heard of this member, the reviewer.) We made an appointment to meet the customer at the address on the following Wednesday, but upon arrival, we were met by a girlfriend. After speaking with the girlfriend and making a phone call to the customer, troubleshooting determined the cause of the problem to be a tripped GFCI receptacle behind a wooden panel behind a whirlpool bath. The GFCI was reset and the outlets were checked out in working order. The girlfriend was pleased with the repair and signed the work ticket. The customer was notified (by phone) that the repair had been made and he asked to pay by credit card. After being told that we do not accept credit cards, he advised he would pay the bill on Friday, December 14. A short time later, the girlfriend called saying some lights were “still not working”. Since neither she nor the customer had mentioned that during the service call, she was told that another service call would be charged when we returned. It was at this point that the customer called to say he never intended for the repair to be made in the first place but rather only asked for an estimate (not true). He suggested we should return, repair the lights, and then accept half payment ($75 total) for the two service calls. We declined his offer. After unsuccessfully trying to call our original point of contact to resolve the escalating situation, we did receive another call from the customer. He said he did not have the money to pay for the $150 service call and began a dialog about how he did not mean for the repair to be made, that we were dishonest and had made unauthorized repairs. He requested a payment plan of $25 per month for six months. We offered to let him pay $75 on January 1, and the balance of $75 on February 1. He agreed. Unfortunately, in spite of our efforts, this situation has gone from sketchy to quite bad. We are not sure why one person made the initial call, why the homeowner was not present at the time of the service call, and why another unknown individual wrote the Angie’s List review. We should have backed out of this job in the beginning when our instinct told us it seemed sketchy. In spite of what the reviewer said, we have spent a great deal of time trying to work with the customer who seems intent on not taking responsibility for what is apparently his own lack of good communication. You can see for yourself by reading our other reviews that we conduct business in a straightforward and honest way and this is verified by our 2011 Angie’s List Super Service Award."

Work was good. However, he was an hour late and didn't call. I understand jobs run over and I am fine with that but would appreciate a phone call when going to be more than 10-15 mins late

Our shower did not have any ventilation and so we needed to upgrade to get a new exhaust fan (with light) and Chris Irving provided an excellent quote with a link (to the fan-light system's manufacturer listing that he would install) to provide additional information about what we would be getting, gave prompt responses to my questions and carried out the job very professionally.

We had Chris Irving Electric do the work because he had worked for us satisfactorily on prior small and medium jobs (the retired electrician gave us his name some years ago) between approximately 2007 and this service date. We always find him to be courteous, prompt, industrious, patient with questions, etc. He arrives when he says he will (or calls if detained), does the work, and maintains professional demeanor (though he has a sense of humor, too). The same can be said for Pam, with whom we have dealt only by telephone. With reference to the current job, we were able to get our service back on the same day thanks to his professionalism, which minimized the hassle factor in something that is never fun--a power outage.

Our air conditioner shut down one day for no apprent reason, we had it serviced at the begining of the season and had no maintenance issues with it. My husband checked the breaker box and found a tripped circuit breaker, he reset it and the air conditioner came back on. After this happened twice we decided to leave it alone and get an electrician to check it out. We called Irving Electric LLCl because they provided twenty four hour service. We talked to Irving @ 7:00pm, told him what was happening and he said he'd be right out. He arrived @ 7:40, checked out the situation and told us that the problem was a burned out bus. He removed the old breaker box and replaced it with a new larger breaker box. He completed the job in 2.5 hour. We are very pleased with the whole process. We got excellent , prompt and professional service. We recommend Irving Electric LLC to anyone looking for a OUTSTANDING electrician.

Initial phone inquiry returned promptly. The work was easy to schedule, he arrived promptly (not 30 minutes early and not 2 hours late, as some in this sort of business seem to think is normal!). The cost was precisely as described. Chris was courteous, clean, well-spoken and well-mannered, and we were very comfortable with his work. Thanks!

Very responsive service on a Sunday. Owner/technician was more than fair with after hours/weekend pricing after discovering issue was realtively minor and took about 1 hour to find and fix. I would highly recommend this company. I have found my go to electrician for life.

We haven't paid him yet because he has to come back and finish up. It is quality work and he is an honest person. He has done work for us in the past. He told us that he was going to come one day and we waited around and he didn't come until 2 days later. We would recommend him.

We needed recessed lights added to a room that had no ceiling fixture and no attic access. Chris came and gave us an estimate that we felt like was very fair. He was very professional and polite. When he could have just put in a regular lightswitch, he added a very nice dimmer instead. He also added an outlet to a closet.

It has been a while since the service, so I'm going from memory on the services performed, but Chris Irving is very personable, professional and extremely effiicient and skilled. He is punctual and performs the work in a quick but thorough fashion. We will use his services for all our electrical needs and refer him to friends and family.

I liked this company very much. They wasted no time in getting out to help me right away. My insurance paid for the work they did so I cannot comment on that too much. I cannot remember what I my deductible was but it was very low. This company does quality work and they truly care about their customers.

My pool builder had hired and paid them for me. I do think they did a good job. Everything was up to code the first time they did the work. We have had no problems at all with the electric service anywhere in our home or outside.

Irving Electric did a good job. The worker was nice. They put the outlet just where I wanted them for the workstation. I have used their services in the past also. I would not hesitate to call them in the future. They do a quality job every time.
