These guys jumped on the job, several trees (including about 8-10 pretty large ones) were gone and dust in 2 days, soil delivered and spread in about 2 more.

After an onsite meeting and estimate from the contractor, I notified the contractor that his price sounded good and I would write a proposal for us to agree on. I e-mailed the proposal and didn't get a response for a couple of days, so I called. The contractor said he would look at it and let me know. On Thursday, Jan 28th, at 1:43 PM, I got a response that said he was not in complete agreement with the proposal. I responded back with a compromise. Then another e-mail response came back stating that he would call me. The call I then got was from one of his workers who was on site and asked me to clarify which trees I wanted removed. They had started work that morning without a contract and without my knowledge!!
I immediately started my 2 hour journey from home to the site, and observed them working until after dark. I went back home and returned the next day. Equipment problems prevented them from finishing. One of the equipment operators agreed to meet me the next morning and finish up to my satisfaction. I got a call that night that he couldn't make it the next day. It was good that they called this time to save me four hours on the road for nothing. I asked that they let me know when work would resume. I didn't hear anything for a couple of days, so I called and asked if they had a planned date for resumption. I was told they had already returned and finished (without calling me). I once again traveled 2 hours each way to find that it wasn't close to being finished. I took pictures, and sent them by e-mail to tell them what wasn't finished, and I also told them I was disappointed that "tree removal" apparently didn't include stump removal.
A few days passed, then yesterday, I got a call at 8:35 AM, that they would be back at the site at 9:00 AM (they knew I was 2 hours away, and it is also disappointing that I have to drop my plans and immediately go to the site to keep them from trying to screw me again). The minimum work was finished that day, although they did not offer to grind the stumps, and I had no recourse since this wasn't specifically addressed in the proposal. I would have rated them better on price if they hadn't left those stumps.
Other notable disappointments included the digging up and breakage of a gas line after I specifically included this hazard in my proposal, and when raking the yard to clean up and reseed, I found a half full gallon jug of hydraulic oil that had been run over and barely covered with dirt.

I was told they would show up by 9:30 either on Tuesday or Thursday. They knocked on my door at 9:20 and the whole crew which was a small army of equipment and men was on my property by 9:30. They completed the work in one day, cleaned up all of the debris, and was gone by approx 5pm. The only break they toke was for lunch. I have never seen anyone climb a tree and work with robes the way Sam did. The area they had to work on had just been covered with sod and they used extreme care in trying to limit the damage to the sod. If I ever have to have tree work again I hope it is Sam, Blake, Roy, Hunter, and "Bear" that show up again to do it! My next door neighbor has a similar situation and asked them to give him an estimate for some work.

The tree cutting and stump grinding was completed successfully, but one of the trees fell on m neighbor's fence. I was promised that the fence would be repaired. The fence was not repaired as promised, I had to make numerous calls and was promised multiple times that the repairs would be made. Partial repairs were made but as of 5/4/15 the repair has not been completed. A very long length of top rail was left at my house which I have no way to dispose of and the top rail that was put onto the fence was not cut to the proper length Big Woody's Tree Service does not intend to complete their obligations and repair my fence, but were very aggressive in collecting their money from me. I would not recommend using if in an area where damage can be done.

I am writing this to update a previous review. I blasted this provider because a tree was cut down in error. Months later - just two weeks ago - a man from the company comes to visit me after reading their review. He was not aware that I was so upset as my landscaper told him it was fine and all and quot;smoothed overand quot;. Well, it wasn't to say the least. However, Big Woody's has now provided me a very large bald cypress and I do mean very large to replace the one cut in error. It was the largest he could possibly get.
Now, I want to recognize the professionalism of this company!!! Apparently, if they had been told the whole situation they would have done their best to remedy the situation when it happened. I have to admire Cody for coming to me and quot;hat in handand quot; as he said to apologize ad do his best to make it right. That is awesome behavior in my opinion! And yes, I would definitely use them again but just be on hand every moment to make sure all is understood. I don't think they will ever make the mistake again! They cut a lot of trees in my yard and the work was done unbelievably fast. They have awesome equipment to take care of your needs.

There was only one, yes one, tree on our lot that we did not want cut. Our landscape professional knew about it and the owner of Big Woody's knew about it. It was an incredible bald cypress and even the owner of Woody's stated such. Well, long story short, guess you can see where this is headed. The owner of Big Woody's instructed a worker to go cut the and quot;Leland Cypressand quot;. The worker did not know the difference between a Leland and a Bald Cypress and cut the precious tree. Our landscaper has offered to and quot;replaceand quot; the Bald Cypress with another tree. I am 59 years old and will not live long enough to see the replacement come near to duplicating the tree that was destroyed. Big Woody's also let a tree fall on a magnolia I had just driven over 200 miles to pick up to plant at our new property. It too is destroyed but I can go purchase another one. Again, that was not a precious tree but a mistake that could have been prevented. There is nothing on earth that can replace the Bald Cypress. Also, lastly, they let another tree fall on an existing Horse Chestnut that was going to be relocated on our property. That was the fault of our landscape professional - From the Ground Up (Michael Anderson). Again, that was not a precious tree but a mistake that could have been prevented. It should have been dug up first.
It has been a very bad experience for us to say the least. Even though they were efficient there is no way on earth a huge tree can ever be replaced once it is destroyed. I will grieve over this for a long, long time as we have just left a house with a garden that I have cared for over 22 years and am starting with an ugly yard to begin with here so the precious things that were here mean a lot to us. The owner of Big Woody's did not even have the decency to come apologize to me!

They are terrific. They have lots of equipment. They cleaned up after themselves. They were really good. They were responsive, unfortunately a tornado came through the day right after we made the arrangements so they were busy cleaning up on that. They are going to come back in the fall and do some more work for us.

They are really good. They are a big company. I spent around $900 on that work. I have had really good luck with them so far.
