We have been using Waste Management for our residential garbage collection for 6 years. Their prices kept going up. Most recently, their charge was $85.25/quarter for residential garbage collection -- for only one pickup each week. When I called to ask about this, they offered a price of $57.00/quarter if we signed a 3-year contract. I found other local companies that charged only $52/quarter, provide the trash bin, also pickup once each week, and do not require a contract. Waste Management could not match the local price, so I cancelled the service.
Trying to stop the auto-payment process was difficult with Waste Management. The original Customer Service person I spoke with said she could not do this for us and recommended we call our bank. The bank wanted a $30 stop-payment fee. So I spent an hour calling around to WM Corporate numbers until I finally found another department which could immediately cancel the auto-payment process. Why couldn't the first Customer Service person have provided me with this information?
