They promised us they could assist us over the phone to program the new keypad and garage door openers we purchased. When it came time to help us the person on the phone was impatient and said we would need a service call. When the service technician arrived it took him no time at all to program them and he admitted it was something that could have been handled over the phone. I disputed the charge for the service call and the office personnel I spoke to was very short and snippy with me but promised to discuss with the owner and call me back. I hesitated when she said this and she reassured me that she would definitely call me back. I waited 3 days. She never called back and my check was cashed. My husband, whom they spoke to, had a 20+ year career of working with complex motherboards of equipment so it was definitely not an issue of him being unable to follow the instructions given. I absolutely feel that they were just trying to fleece us out of the cost of a service call. It is absolutely the last money they will ever receive from us.

STAY AWAY AT ALL COST! This company only offers a steep bill, possible damage, and horrible customer service with no resolutions. On July 4th my garage door broke. My wife (who was 9 months pregnant) was due to go into labor at any moment. I called Overhead Garage Door from Sioux Falls, SD and explained to them that my garage door was broke and needed repairs. Both vehicles were trapped in the garage leaving my wife and I in a very tricky situations if she went into labor. Jeff (the employee) showed up at noon and looked over my garage door. He first (very rudely) explained to me that since I tried to get the garage door open myself that I turned a 15 minute fix into a 45 minute fix. He proceeded to release the tension from the springs located directly above the garage door. He used two medal rods (each rod was roughly a foot long) to do this. Jeff then left one of the rods attached to a spring and started to wiggle the garage door. The rod shot out from the spring and hit my 2008 Audi A4 and placed a huge dent in the hood. Jeff quickly looked at me and said he wasn’t responsible for any damage done, and asked if I had anything to cover up the vehicles with. Jeff worked very quickly to get the garage door open so he could leave immediately. After the garage door was open I asked him what he was going to do about the dent. He again (very rudely) explained to me that he wasn’t responsible and should have walked away from the job. Jeff decided he would contact his manager Joe (service manager) about the issue. When business hours were almost over (that same day) and I still hadn’t received a call I quickly reached out to Joe (the service manager) about the issue. He too explained to me that they weren’t responsible for the dent, and I would have to contact my insurance company. I asked Joe if I was going to be charged for the service and he didn’t have an answer. I asked if I could speak to the owner (Jo T.), and he transferred me to her voicemail. I had to call another garage door specialist to come over and fix the garage door since Jeff didn’t fix it before he left. The next day Jo returned my call and asked me what my deductible was. I explained that my deductible was $500. Jo said she would only cover that amount. I took my car to get it repaired, and the total cost was $575.10. Again, Jo T. (owner) only paid $500, and then charged me $98 dollars for a service charge. Again I contacted Jo T. as to why they charged me a service charge. Jo said that if I would have contacted them again they would have come out and fixed it at no additional cost. In the end Overhead Garage Door cost me $173.10 for a dent in my vehicle and a garage door that wasn’t operational.

it was a good job, but found out they used one of our extension cords - they never said anything.  Mainteneace costs $$ and had a problem with a loose screw.  ALso one of the remotes.  but Overhead has been excellent in the past and this is the 2nd garage door we've installed in this house.

I called because the springs on my door broke and I had a beat up door. I received a quote for $900 for a new door and total repairs. The door was of high quality and installed properly, but a week later the chain was extremely loose, and the opener would not allow the door to go down. There was a hitch in the boom. When I called for a follow up, they came and performed no repairs and decided the door worked fine. I received no call back on what repairs were done, just a fat bill for $59. Upon calling them they waived the service fee, but said that the door opener was not their responsibility. They do not work on Wayne Dalton openers and they just gave me another quote for their opener at $300. Upon looking in the yellow pages I found that A-1 gives free openers with a purchase of a door. Use them instead, especially if you need a door and have a Wayne Dalton opener.

Good experience. They did not however arrive on the day they had promised. I called to check. There was some sort of computer scheduling problem. They came the next day. The work was done in a few hours. Install looks great.
