We called to inquire about the refund in early October as the credit had not been applied to our card. We were given a runaround and were told that their bookkeeping was in disarray due to a recent move. They said they would look for it and get back to us. We then received an email stating that they couldn't locate our paperwork and would we forward the original email correspondence to them that detailed their instructions for the return. We forwarded the email and then 10 days later the owner called us. Again we were given excuses that they couldn't locate the paperwork and he had been ill so things weren't in good order and mistakes were made. He then wanted "proof" that we sent the paperwork and refused to consider a copy of the letter sent as good faith proof that it was sent. Why would we not send it? We were due to get a refund and certainly wouldn't if we didn't send the required documentation. Needless to say we have not received a refund for the promised $149.95. All we got was excuses such as "We can't locate our paperwork because we've moved and things are a mess." and "We didn't credit your card for the mattress because we misplaced the paperwork." It's easy to bait and switch customers when they are several states away. Beware of Dakota's inept business dealings and never trust their word as we did. As well the owner Steve is rude and rarely allows anyone else to speak and frequently speaks over the top of you. Terrible business practices and obnoxious owner! Never again will we deal with Dakota Waterbeds INC. and nor should you.
Description of Work: We purchased a waterbed mattress on line from Dakota Waterbeds Inc. to replace one with a lifetime warranty since they sold the same brand we originally purchased. We spoke with a representative Dale and he said they would charge us for the replacement mattress and then refund it all except a $50.00 handling charge upon receipt of the label from the defective one and a copy of our credit card statement showing the purchase of the first one. We followed their instructions exactly and included a cover letter recapping our conversation. This was done on July 5th and our credit card was charged the $199.95. We called to inquire about the refund in early October as the credit had not been applied to our card.
