Denise Thompson, the realtor who helped us find our home, works for Prudential Kahler in Rapid City, SD. I met Denise during a cross-country driving and quot;scouting tripand quot; I took in Sept 2008 looking for retirement locations in the Northern Plains. We (my wife and I) had grown tired of the east coast and quot;rat raceand quot; after my April 2008 retirement. Having ruled out a number of other locations in and quot;flyover countryand quot;, we decided in early 2009 to move to Rapid City that summer. Denise corresponded with us via email and phone after we notified her in early 2009 of our decision to move to the Black Hills. We provided her with the details of the type of house we sought, and drove from Virginia to Rapid City in April in hopes of finding a suitable location, or, preferably, a house which met our needs. Over three days Denise showed us something on the order of a few dozen homes in which we had shown interest that were listed for sale in and around and quot;Rapidand quot;, as the city is locally known. We stumbled upon the house we bought amid a late April snowstorm. We had not selected this house for an examination, based on the available listings we'd been sent from Denise, as one meeting our specifications, because it was incorrectly listed (it turned out that the house had natural gas heat, which we wanted, and not electric heat, which was specified on the listing). After a quick arranged walkthrough, we almost immediately placed an offer on the house, and after some give and take with the owner and his realtor over a weekend, returned to Virginia early the following week with an accepted offer in hand. Before leaving, moreover, we were able to confer with a local Rapid City mortgage company that Denise had recommended, and with whom we were easily able to obtain financing. We closed in June, sold our house in VA in July, and moved the following month. I have nothing but great things to say about Denise Thompson and the whole crew at Prudential Kahler in Rapid City. We were especially impressed with how all the and quot;perturbationsand quot; along the way got ironed out so quickly, and so well, by Denise and her colleagues. What a professional organization! The experience was, from beginning to end, straightforward and auspicious for our new beginning in a different part of the country. (Of course, it helps that we now reside in a great location.) We still keep in touch with Denise, and four years later, she remembers our names when we cross paths in town. You won't go wrong with Prudential Kahler, or (especially) Denise Thompson.
