The contractor arrived and reviewed the work to be done. He gave the price as $2350 and an estimate time to complete the job at about 4 days. 1 day for the roof, and 3 maybe 4 for the interior work. When we selected him for the job, he returned to have us sign the contract agreement, which included the quoted price and a start date. When leaving, he spilled a gallon of orange paint out of his van onto the curb in front of my house. I was out of town when the job started, but my wife was home. My wife called me to verify the price on the contract agreement was accurate. I had left her a copy of the contract and told her the agreement was for $2350. She said they were charging her an extra $150 while doing the work on the ceiling because there was a seam in the wall that needed to be repaired, similar to the seams in the ceiling that they were repairing. I told her not to have them do it until I talked to the supervisor who gave me the quote. I felt $150 was too much for 1 additional seam that needed to be repaired. My wife said they already started repairing it before they informed her there would be a price increase. The contract clearly stated any changes would be done in writting and signed by both parties. My wife contacted me again because she came home after the workers 2nd day of working and found dry wall spackle all over everything. The TV, furniture, wood floors, appliances, EVERTHING! These guys were working on the ceiliing and didn't cover anything up! I was still out of town so she had to contact them about their poor workmanship. Once the work was done, payment was withheld until the work on the ceiling could be done more satisfactorily. The worst of the areas were redone, but the overall job is disappointing. I came home 2 weeks later to find that the paint in two of the areas doesn't come close to matching the original paint (gray over the original egg shell white), there appears that no effort was made to texture any of the drywall work that was done. During the quote, the contractor said the texture would be "easy to match." The repaired areas of the ceiling are smooth and we now have smooth stripes across a textured ceiling. The work being done was in preparation for us selling the house. As we are packing, I still find drywall spackling on random areas around different appliances.
Description of Work: The job included multiple areas of repair: A) replace a section of roof over the garage where the shingles were coming off B) repair multiple small areas of dry wall inside the house (high traffic dents and holes from large TV that was mounted to the wall, repaint all areas repairedC) repair/re-spackle, tape, texture, and paint all seams in ceiling between kitchen and living room. These rooms share a vaulted ceiling. The seams were visible because the original drywall work was poorly done when the house was constructed. Original price was $2350, which included all materials and labor.
