Dermatology - General
After seeing two other dermatologists in Sioux City and receiving no answers, I made an appointment to see Dr. Chabra at the Midlands Clinic in Dakota Dunes, SD. I checked into the office and was eventually taken back to an exam room several minutes later. The nurse asked me to remove my clothes and wear a hospital gown for the exam. The wait for the doctor was average, approximately 20-30 minutes. As he entered the exam room, he appeared rather anxious and hurried. He began his evaluation of the itchy nodules located on my arms, legs, and face and asked if I was taking any prescription medication for mental illness. I was puzzled and acknowledged that I had. Immediately, he stepped back, stopped the exam, and said to me, "You need to stop picking at your skin. If you do not, I will admit you to hospital and wrap your body, so that you will not be able to touch it." I was frightened by words, but asked him what my diagnosis was. He replied, "There's nothing wrong with you. Leave your skin alone." Needless to say, I went to a different dermatologist and never went back to see him.
