They were very thorough in their job walk for the estimate, got our input on each room/area, and explained what was ideal vs what would be "ok." They provided 3 different packages/price points with information about each and what our expectations needed to be for each and answered all of our 2,385 questions. The installers were prompt every single day that they were working on the house. They cleaned up after themselves very well. Obviously it's a bit painful to spend that kind of money, but now that our house is correctly and more efficiently heating/cooling it is reflected in our much lower power bills - AND we're comfortable inside our house. We've now seen significant differences every month since install. Two thumbs up.

; they promptly sent out a service man, but he said our entire system was bad, poorly installed, and there was no option but to replace everything. Sent us a quote for way more than the original quotes we had gotten the year before for similar systems. A third a/c service inspected our whole system, there was one small issue (a hose had not been connected), didn't charge us because they said they hadn't done that much and came back a month later to inspect the system to be sure, and it's been working fine now all summer. It seemed to us Manley was trying to take advantage of an older couple because they knew we were unable to go into the crawlspace and check what they said.
Response from MANLY BROTHERS HEATING & A/C
"In response to the "F" rating given us by [Member Name Removed] (1) We were called out for a second opinion, only because the company that installed the York System, that was only 2 years old, were also doing the maintenance on this system. According to the homeowners, the installing and servicing company, was repeatedly finding problems that were costing the homeowners (in their words) "major money" and the HVAC company was now telling them that they had a refrigerant leak on the evaporator coil and that it needed replacing for (their words) "major money". We don't know who this trust worthy, reputable York Dealer is. (2) We did an electronic leak search of the evaporator coil and did not find a leak, nor did we charge for this leak search. (3)The technician took photos of a poor installation, that was shown to the homeowner and we still have as proof of what we are saying. (4) Because of the shoddy installation, conditioned air was blowing into the crawl space. No tape or mastic was used. (5) While we did not do a Manual "J" Load Calculation, and unless the homeowner, servicing company or York Manufacturer can produce a Manual "J" Load Calculation, we stand by our assertion, that the system is over sized for this house. (Contractor's oversize sometimes to compensate for a poor installation). The homeowners asked the technician what it would cost for us to fix their problems. Because the system is over sized for the house, we believe that sealing and proper set-up would only make the homeowner's problems worse. We also believe that the only way to correct the problems described to us, is to replace the system, properly sized, sealed and set-up. Hence, the proposal was given. (6) We, as far as we know, did all that we could for the homeowners, as per their request. Because they are unhappy with their current company is not fair or reasonable for us to get the "F" rating. (7) Lastly, the homeowner says that the unit and installation are good according to a York representative. We stand by our diagnosis, as we have photographic evidence, model numbers and serial numbers to prove what we are saying is true. (8) We did all this for a $52.00 service call."

It went great! The estimate seemed a little high but they were very thorough in telling us what we needed to do and made sure to follow up with us in a timely manner.

Always there when I needed them, even on the Fourth of July week a few years ago when it was 100+ degrees for a week. They came out on a Sunday evening. Replaced a part and checked the system- cost was something like $141. Happy to pay it, lucky to have their number in my contacts. Every time they come out they are quite professional and have their ducks in a row.

I have used Manly Brothers for over ten years. I highly recommend them! They will come out as soon as possible if your system breaks down, even on evenings and holidays. They do excellent work, and do not overcharge. They explain the service you are requesting, and price in advance. They do not require up front payments unless you are having a brand new system installed. Then I think its about 15% in advance and the rest when the job is done. They put in my new system last year, told me how to maintain it the right way, plus tell me how important it was to use the right filters and have yearly tune ups done. I highly recommend Manly Brothers.

The technician arrived on schedule and was very courteous. He had an almost impossible job to do. Duct work leading to the room over my garage had come loose and heat was going directly into the attic. The space to work in was next to impossible. I know, because I had tried to crawl in it myself with no success. Yet, the technician work diligently with no complaints for nearly two hours to repair/replace the duct work. The price was more than fair. I did get a small discount, as I have a service contract with this company. But I could not be happier with the repair.

From the moment I met him, I felt very comfortable with them. They were very professional, honest, sincere, and courteous. They did not make promises they could not keep. They explained things on a level I could understand, were competitively priced, and they put the effort to earn my business as opposed to just giving the best price. The actual owners come to explain the job they will do. Also, they are local, which I greatly appreciate.

We were very pleased with Manly Brothers Heating and Air. Workers were professional, knowledgeable, courteous and on time. Installers wore shoe covers when they needed to work inside. They removed all debris. The installers carefully explained all the important points of operating the new system and thermostat.

Technician showed up at agreed-upon time and quickly isolated the problem to shorted wire, which he repaired. Further troubleshooting revealed some other electrical issues at the meter box which had to be corrected by an electrician. But once these issues were corrected, the Manly Brothers technician came back out to the house and rechecked the heat pump operation. The only charge from Manly Brothers was their standard service call.
This was our family's most recent experience with Manly Brothers. Between my brother-in-law and me, I think we have had Manly Brothers out to our places probably four times in the last six years. They always arrive when they say they will. Their work is top notch and they don't try to sell you something you don't need. Very honest folk. Highly recommended.
