We hired them to come in and "fix up" one bed and one bath so I could move in while facilitating the remainder of the remodel. They covered the floors in the bed/bath to remove drywall, then tracked the drywall dust all through the rest of the house. Before they started to paint, they said they didn't include finishing the rest of the walls in the bathroom, but did so because we had to point out to them that they HAD included it in the contract. The contractor said his wife typed it up wrong, so she could come and finish the walls herself. And she did. They had us sign off on an extra for $15 to move an outlet in the bath adjacent the one they were working on and left the hole in the drywall. If we had known they were not going to fix it, we would not have had it moved. In fact we had to have another contractor fix it. Joel, the contractor, had an arrogant and unhelpful attitude and belittled us at every opportunity. Always saying we bought the wrong items, such as wall patch, paint, in fact everything we supplied. But never spec'ing it ahead of time. He was rude and uncooperative, ignoring people when spoken to. His standard reply to a question was saying "that's not inclulded". They did not install GFCI outlets, they are just standard and do not meet code. They didn't remove nails, properly patch obvious holes in the trim and drywall. There are runs in the paint, stains on the ceiling. They didn't paint the crossbars on the windows, again saying that would be extra. But did so, badly, after our complaints. They also did not paint the backsides of the doors until instructed that it was expected. They charged $200 extra to paint the doors. It was never said that it would be only one side. That was for the bifold doors and the bedroom door. They reinstalled the vanity without cleaning out the back corners of the floor and now there is no way to get to to clean it unless removing the entire unit again. They left the tub and sink encrusted with drywall dust turned to a true hardened crust. They dripped paint on the floor and did not clean it. Their work was substandard in all levels and at the conclusion of the project, there was such tension and it became a battle to complete it. His attitude and lack of professionalism had my parents so wrought up that they couldn't sleep thinking of all the problems with such a seemingly simple set of tasks. We just wanted them out of our house. So we paid them, grudgingly, and went to finish cleaning and fixing ourselves. Adding insult to injury, they left the toilet sitting out front of our house and the toilet lid sitting on a shelf of the master bed breezeway. All of which was to be taken away according to the contract.
