It went great!!! It went fantastic. Mr. Jamie Hawley went out of his way to be accommodating and supportive of my needs and concerns. With me just purchasing my home, I was really afraid of what it would take to address all of the issues I indicated above. Mr. Hawley is hands on; he was present while the work was being done, he monitored his men to ensure their safety as well as to ensure that the work got done. Mr. Hawley, himself, physically worked at getting my yard the way I wanted, yet was considerate enough to understand my trepidation. I had never had that amount of work done before; I just could not see how everything I wanted done would be done without some sort of mishap. As much as I was concerned about my home (trees falling on it by accidentally - everything I wanted worked on was really close to it); I was also concerned that someone could get hurt while doing the work. I was a mess!!! Mr. Hawley reassured me that everything would be fine; he has been doing this type of work for over 20 years and he is fully licensed and insured. The Hawley men reported to my property at the date and time they said they would (in fact, they were early); they had their equipment, and before I could get out of the house to greet them, they were already working in the front yard removing the bushes that I did not want. Mr. Hawley walked around the yard with me verifying that what I wanted done was what he had come prepared and planned for. When I suggested removal of a tree that was not a threat to my home, but had overlooked a tree that was within 10 feet of my home, he explained to me why he would remove the three that was closer to the house and leave the tree that was further away (I was afraid the tree would interfere with the electrical lines should there be a storm). What I had not noticed was that the tree near the electrical lines had already been de-limbed so as not to interfere with the line; I had not realized that I had made that mistake. At no time did Mr. Hawley pressure me into changing my mind; had I decided I wanted to remove the tree further away from the house and leave the tree close to it; he would have done what I wanted. His expert advice is what allowed me to have not only what I thought I wanted but allowed me to have an even more successful event. I got the chance to learn as the event unfolded. Mr. Hawley did not become irritable as I asked endless questions that I am sure he has heard asked countless times before. I was treated as though all of my concerns were novel thoughts and that each and every one deserved a respectable response. I am very appreciative of that. Mr. Hawley worked with me as well when it came time to pay for the work done. I had no cash; but I did have a lot of credit. He completed all work; and made it possible for me to pay my debt with a credit card. I would not have been able to do the work if he had not done that. Do I recommend him and his service? I most certainly do. When I think of any more tree removal work being done; I know that it will be the Hawley's Tree Service I will use. I was treated with respect and never once did I feel that he was trying to "rip" me off. Since buying this house requiring massive amounts of refurbishment, I can sincerely say, the Hawley's Tree Service is one provider that did nothing to destroy my faith in the goodness of commercial providers. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for all of the providers who worked on my house...my home.
Description of Work: Hawley's Tree service removed two massive full grown trees that were near my newly purchased home that is located in a local community in NE Columbia, SC. He and his men removed 4 bush stumps that were located in the front yard, they removed, old metal linked fence poles and broken down metal fence pieces. They also removed the large wooden fence poles that were in the back yard. They cut back trees that had branches suspended over the roof so as to eliminate the tree limbs from dropping tree limbs as well as leaving leaves on the roof (could hold rain water and later cause leakage of the roof), they cut back a large tree that was so tall that the body of the tree was capable of covering the whole house should it fall. They cut down a tree that was pretty to look at (looked like a live Christmas tree) but very impractical (it was less than three feet from the house) and the roof of that portion of the house was rotting (the fascia) due to the amount of moisture the tree was holding against the house. They removed the limbs, the cut down trees, and spread the wooden material that was left over from the tree stumps being ground down so it was not piled up high and left for the owner to do. And most importantly, the owner offered professional advice that helped me to make a wise decision on what trees needed to be cut down and what tree I should keep. He could have added to the expense by accepting my request to cut down yet another tree; but, he took the time to explain to me why it would be better for me to leave the tree to be removed by another organization that would not charge me. Mr. Jamie Hawley is a great guy and he has a great family business/work force backing him.
