Boltinhouse Jewelers

I went to Boltinhouse Jewelers looking to get an approximate value of a few select jewelry items and a high end Swiss watch I've been carrying around with me for years and thought it might be time to sell if the price was right.  On my arrival I was met by a gentleman who ask me how he could help me, then once I told him what I was there for, he began helping someone else.  After waiting, he returned gathered my items off the counter where he had left them and took them to get a value.  He never gave me an individual value of each piece, just gave me a bulk offer of all the items, which was low to fair market value.  The watch, I already knew, was worth $1500 on the low side, he offered $300.  He offered $650 for an engagement ring, two diamond wedding bands and six other gold rings.  So for the bundle I would have walked out of there with $950.00.  I have already gotten on offer on E-bay for the watch alone for over $1000.00.  I understand he needs to make a profit, to take gross advantage of the uneducated or someone needing money in an emergency, I consider robbery, thankfully I was not in a financial emergency, but I could imagine they get a few that have no choice but to sell at these low prices.  The website for Boltinhouse Jewelers is highly misleading.

I had a token which was marked .999 silver from a Casino in Las Vegas.  I also had a bag of misc. jewelry which I wanted to know the worth of.  The owner, I suppose, looked at my coin and said it was worth about $15.00.  The coin was solid silver in the middle and surrounded by a gold finish.  He did not weigh the coin but based his estimate on prior experience.  As for my misc. jewelry, he said he could add an additional $2.00 to the price.  This did have me somewhat concerned because in the misc. jewelry was an opal ring which I had appraised by another jeweler at $400.00! 
However, because I needed the money, I accepted his offer of $15 for the coin.  The gentleman seemed very nice and honest and to be fair, I think he was just basing the cost of the opal on the setting minus the stones.
