I get a call from Trudy each day 24 hours before they arrive and the tech always lets me know when he arrives. My grass is looking better for sure. I am not a fan of their other services calling and pressuring you to try and use their services however.

My lawn quality has degraded over the last three years. They promise followups, and only come back out half the time. I have had at least 5 different "lawn care specialists" over the past three years, and they each diagnosed a different cause for my problems. The last straw for me was this AM. I talked to them last week, and said I wanted to discuss my lawn before my scheduled treatment, and gave them my phone number to verify that I would be home. No call, but they came (6 minutes) and did the service that I had asked them to hold off on. I called the office and was told that a note was on the work order to call me. I was told that in any case he should ring my doorbell to explain the work that was done. I told them I was cancelling their service due their poor responses over the past years. I got a call in the evening from the technician, saying that he had "rapped on the door" and got no response. I asked, "Why not the doorbell?" and was told that sometimes doorbells don't work. Oh, and by the way he never got a notice to call me. After three years of this, I told him I was done, and not to have someone from Retention to call me and try to get me back. (We''ll see how that works!!"

They come out every few weeks. We have a contract with them. They do what they're supposed to do.

We've just been using them for 3 months because our other service went out of business.  So far they're doing fine.  Our grass looks green & looks good.  They call me every time after the service to ask if everything was okay and to my satisfaction.  Plus, the guy that does the actually fertilization knocks on the door and if there's anything he'll point out or make sure you water the lawn the next day.  They're very responsive.  They're right there with you giving advice and making sure the service was satisfactory.

After two years with Scotts, we had the worst lawn in the neighborhood. They killed two sections of our lawn, and they refuse to stand behind their products. The manager made many promises to make things right, but there was no follow through. No one ever returns your phone calls and the office staff give you a constant run around saying someone will be back in touch. When you call the national Scotts number, they keep referring you back to the local office that won't return calls. They owe us money, and we will probably never get our money back from them. They are unscrupulous...find another lawn service.

They come six times a year. They don't seed. I didn't realize that they have a seeding service but they do. They always call to say they are coming. When he arrives, he always rings the door bell and leaves a note on the door. He doesn't wait around. He rings the door bell and gets to work. When you come out, you can see him working. They are here for less than 15 minutes each visit. I gave them a C for the price because so far this year, I have spent $370 and last year was $407 and yet I had some extra services done in 2014. For that amount of money, I don't think that is a bargain by any means. I think that is average at best. The quality of what they do is good. Their punctuality is superb. If they say they are going to be there the next day, they are there. They always ring the door bell. They always leave a little door hanger on the front door knob telling you what they did and the time that they were there. They are very polite. If you go out and talk to them while they are doing it, they tell you exactly what they are doing. They seem to know what they are doing. I have been using them for three years. They promised that in a year, I would have a perfect lawn. I don't have a perfect lawn but it is a whole lot better than it was and that's for sure. What they said would be done in a year takes three or four years. It has eventually happened. It is just last year that I noticed that the lawn is better than when we first moved in to the house. The lawn was in a terrible shape when we moved in.

Despite average reviews I went with Scott's largely because of the brand name and a military discount. After 15-18 months of service, however, it became clear this a poor company and I discontinued service.
Prior to Scott's I had no lawn service at the house, which now is a rental. It was obvious in the lawn but the lawn didn't look terrible, just sloppy. After one year with Scott's my lawn looked horrible, with huge dead spots. Some spots could be attributed to too much tree cover but there were others in the middle of the lawn. I complained to Scott's, and a manager got back to me. By the way, Scott's was in the papers in Charleston due to the fact that they killed many lawns in the area due to a problem with their treatment chemicals. I had a good interaction with the manager, who looked at the lawn, acknowledged it looked bad, and said he'd treat the yard for free for "a few months." I appreciated the offer but also asked what would happen in a couple months of things didn't improve.
After a couple months my bills resumed. I never heard back as promised by the manager to discuss the status of the lawn, and since I don't live in the area anymore I could not see the results. My tenant told me that it still looked bad. On my next visit I confirmed it looked very bad still. I called the manager twice over 3 weeks asking for a call back but never received one. I called the national number and told them I wasn't hearing back from the manager, and that I wasn't interested in paying my bill until I did. I still never heard back. So I phoned one more time and said I wanted the account cancelled and the balance zeroed out. A week later I got a call not from the manager but a robocall from Scott's. I called Scott's to see what the message was about and they said the account was cancelled and zeroed out as requested.
I appreciate the military discount. I appreciated the manager agreeing to work on the lawn for free and his taking ownership of the issue. And I am happy they didn't go to battle with me over the last bill. On the negative side, once I put Scott's in charge my lawn basically died.  The manager did the right thing at first but didn't fix the lawn, didn't follow up, and then didn't return any phone calls. They never even got the spelling of my name right over 15 months, despite several efforts to correct it. Scott's is a poor choice for lawn care, and worse for customer service.

They were horrible people. They would not correct the damage in my yard. It costed me thousands of dollars. I had to get a lawyer and they would not agree. They were terrible. They're not consumer-friendly. He was very belligerent and very nasty. I'm not going back with them. That is one company I would not recommend to anybody.

After two years with Scotts, we have the worst lawn in the neighborhood. Some of the sod has died, and we have more weeds than lawn. We recently paid for treatment of fire ants. This treatment was supposedly guaranteed. We have ant hills everywhere, and they won't come back. They promise to send a manager out, but no one ever shows up. They hound you to buy more and more services but don't stand behind their products.

Save your money and hire a local lawn service. We went with Scotts because of their name, but they have failed to deliver. You can read lots of terrible reviews of this company online. Unfortunately, we failed to do our homework before hiring them.

They come out once a month and the price is for a year. It's $90 a year for the ant removal. My yard is very nice. The staff are helpful, and knowledgeable. They are very prompt, they will come out on the day that they say they will. They are good and will do what they say they will. We don't have to be home when they come.

Every year my yard gets worse. I express the problems I see and they come out and apply chemicals without ever diagnosing a problem. The yard keeps dying and deteriorating. They have no idea what’s going on and everything they treat it with isn’t working. Something is clearly wrong.

We hired them at the end of April this year. Four treatments later we still have weeds and now have an active brown patch in our yard? Something they were supposed to be preventing??? They wanted to charge $140 to "maybe" fix the spot. I called and asked for a different worker for a second opinion and the manager calls back and leaves a rude, condescending voicemail questioning why I would ask of such a thing and standing behind his worker (who was very hard to approach and talk to and just wasn't pleasant). So I called and cancelled service. The only people that are polite are the ladies that answer the phone!

Prepaid a year of service, so don't get any bills. At the end of the year, they continued to service despite me telling them I didn't wish to renew. Harassing me for payment now.

They Destroyed our yard in the two months we hired them. They killed all the grass in the back yard and all the WEEDS still remain! The front yard turned brown as well. My yard use to be yard of the month but not now. We fired them and now we have  a lot more to do. I don't know if it will ever be the same before them. Also, they charged my account 4 times in the two months they came it was suppose to be $52 every 45 days. DO NOT HIRE THEM! I think they kill your grass so you will continue to add there services on.

I had used this vendor since the year before on an annual basis.  The person who was supposed to apply the July 2013 treatment never showed up. I wasn't really pleased with their service overall because they didn't always cover the entire lawn corners or by the street.  Therefore I waited to see if they'd show up.  Finally in September I used the national web site to cancel my service...not that I was really getting any.
This is the response I received from the local franchisee, "I?m sorry there was a delay in your service. Your service ticket was printed and put into route on 7-29 but was not done and was not turned back in at the end of the day to be routed for the next day. This happens very rarely and is usually caught quickly.  Not that it should be the responsibility of the homeowner but a phone call or email query as the time passed would have solved this quickly."
Why would I want to keep using a company that can't keep up with their customers?

Scotts arrived on schedule for lawn treatments and did ma thorough job. They advise of any lawn problems and recommended treatment. I will use them again.
