Exterior Painting, Garage Service
This experience started out professional. He was referred to use by a friend. He had done some painting work in their kitchen and did a great job, but it was over a year in the past. When he came to the house he was very professional, eager to work, and was ready to start immediately. He said he would go above and beyond the call of duty for the same price to make everything look amazing. He required 50% down payment to cover supplies. He was paid the next morning and began work immediately and stated that he would have the enitre job completed in 48 hours. When the 48 hours was over all he had done was half sand a door and painted over it leaving a horribly noticable uneven surface. He asked how I thought his painted was, and told him that the door was not sanded properly and looked horrible. He said he would resand it for free (when the sanding and painting of the door was included in the estimate). When I asked him why nothing else was done he said that he couldnt find any siding that would match. He said he finally found some in columbia and would need an additional $150 to cover the cost of the drive and to pay for someone to help me. After I gave him the check, he said he found some in north charleston. He got the correct siding and then proceeded to put it on the building. He ended up cutting one of the sides an inch too short and tried to cover it up by smooshing the corner piece flat to cover it. He said the corner piece looked like that because it was built wrong, still trying to hide the siding mess up. Then the eaves that he had put up were vinyl eaves that did not match the metal eaves that were on the house that he was supposed to copy. The eaves were also bent at the wrong spot so they hung an inch lower than the actual eave. The edging at the top of the vinyl siding was not smooth and had small chucks taken out of it from not being cut properly. Then when he was shown all the problems that were wrong with it and showed that it did not mimic the siding and look of the house as he was asked 3 times during the proposal that he could indeed match everything exaclty! Then he demands 68 more dollars to cover the expense of the metal eaves. I told him that he was already given $150 extra to drive to and from columbia to get the siding when you then found it in north charleston. So he had more than enough money to cover the expense of the metal eaves that were originally quoted in the proposal. He continued to call over and over yelling at my husband and i and demanding the $68 dollars to continue work. I said fix all the mistakes you have already made and then we will talk about the $68. All of this was drug out over almost 2 weeks. Needless to say the entire experience was a disaster, nothing got fixed, and I was out $450. Stay away from this contractor! Don't let him fool you too!
