Allan's Automotive

My wife's Toyota Highlander broke down on her way to work at about 7:30 am on Hwy 25 in Traveler's Rest. When I arrived where Wife had pulled off the road, her car started right up, so we decided to limp back towards TR and find a garage. We are not familiar with the area as we just moved here two months prior. The car began acting like it wouldn't make it far so Wife pulled into the first garage we came to. Pure chance is how we chose Allan's Automotive. It was still before 8am, but the door was open so I walked in and told the owner (I assume he was the owner because he was the only one there at the time) about Wife's car. He popped the hood, checked for a few things that could have been the problem, then hooked the scanner up to the car. After a few minutes of diagnostics and looking up the code, he figured out it was a bad coil pack. Another guy that came in while this was going on ordered the part from the auto parts store and it was delivered within 20 minutes. The part was replaced and the "check engine" light was reset. The part was $85 and the labor was $40. We were back on the road in under an hour. I have to say, I wasn't expecting such quick service and was very pleased that we stumbled upon an honest and friendly garage. My wife and I have an Allan's Garage card in our wallets and a magnet on our refrigerator so that the next time we need automotive service, we'll know who to call.

He repairs any kind of vehicle but he deals in older vehicles, muscle cars, street rods, stuff like that. He's been working on my '40 Pontiac street rod. He's been great for me. The older cars do have a lot of quirks and things. Some of it you can sort out and some you can almost sort out. I think he has done as good as anybody can for me and he has been very fair priced. He is very interested in the car and he is careful with the car. It has a custom paint job and he is careful. I provide fender covers that are custom and he uses them. It has just been a good experience. I would like to keep rolling with it as long as it will last.
