Thank you Will for your follow-up. I am extremely pleased with the results of your work and the way in which you carried it out. I enjoyed making your acquaintance and meeting your team. I appreciate the thorough explanation of the situation and the method you used to correct the problems with my pool deck. I found you and your team to be very professional throughout the completion of the job and how you treated my property as though it were your own. You told me what you were going to do, how you were going to do it, and you did it as scheduled, on time and at a fair price. I will happily recommend you and your company to others that may have similar needs. Gratefully yours, Mike

Our concrete steps at the front of the house were sinking. They were still in good shape so we weren't looking to replace. Slab science came out and lifted the steps from underneath. It looks great and was very cost effective.

Mr. McCuen came out and listened to our problem and thoughts on the matter and looked over the house, inside and out. He proposed a solution that sounded right to me and we gave him the go-ahead. Within the week (Feb. 15th) Mr. McCuen and his skilled team came out. Dug up the foundation/slab on two sides of the house where water gathered and applied his liquid concrete solution to the slab and the brick walls on top of it. They then put the soil back on top of it while not disturbing the azaleas planted there. They then cleaned the gutters and cleaned the 12 downspouts; all of which were totally plugged with debris the entire length. They then installed new ends on the downspouts running into corrugated piping to take water away from the house. They also covered the piping with mulch, leaving the ends open to drain. Since then we have had several heavy rains, including 3.8” on 4/15/08, with NO more water intrusion. We cannot speak highly enough of Mr. McCuen and his team!

Will was very knowledgable about the process and possibilities for our space. He is the only one we got an estimate from who thought he could get our garage level (and stable) enough to build on, and his team did so successfully and with the best customer service you could hope for. We were happy to pay the money for the peace of mind, quality work, and professionalism they provided.

I was given an estimated cost (low to high) for the job ahead of their arrival after exchanging photos and information about my problem with Will via email. We agreed on a plan of attack to address the problem and scheduled the work. Will and his team showed up on time and did a thorough job, explaining each step and all of the work they planned to do. I was fascinated by the process and the equipment they were using. Will was very accommodating and explained everything as the job progressed. Several holes were drilled in my concrete walkway, into which a liquid solution was injected while tapping on the concrete to assist in distributing the product throughout the soil beneath the concrete. The process was so effective that the solution started to come out of the adjacent hole some 15"-18" away from the hole being injected, The solution solidifies and becomes an incredible solid mass supporting the concrete above. Will and his team then addressed several minor issues that I hadn't planned on. They fill a gap where the walkway meets the front stoop on my house, and the ground down the edge of my concrete driveway where the walkway meets the driveway, eliminating a bot of a trip hazard. When the job was done, he handed me the invoice and everything came in well under the high end of the estimate we agreed to via email. I would highly recommend Will and his team at Slab Science for any work you need done to level out concrete pours and repair old concrete slabs.

It turned out to be a much more difficult job than we or Will had anticipated. The sunken steps were unknowingly attached with 3 pieces of rebar. Will and his guys refused to quit though, and didn't leave until the job was completed. The steps look excellent - they did an incredible job. Communication was also excellent. His communication was mostly via e-mail before the job, with very precise information/pictures about the plan of action and the cost. He also provided a guarantee for his work, which I really appreciated. They really made everything so easy. I look forward to working with him on future projects.

That slab, today, is still off level by at least a full bubble. Called them back to perform more leveling. End result was the slab was semi-leveled to about 80% - not money well spent. I would guess that their equipment and expertise were not up to the task required for this particular job.
Response from Slab Science LLC
"This was an old detached garage built on a slab was obviously not level to begin with. During the lift it became obvious that bringing it to perfect level would have damaged the structure sitting on the slab (the sill plates on two sides of the garage began to bow). Client had us cut the sill to remove pressure which we did but also felt it wise to stop the lift for fear that more serious structural damage may occur - Will McCuen/Owner Slab Science LLC."

Slab Science did a fantastic job. They were on time, and finished the project in the stated time. Very professional, and easy to do business with. Communication was great, and cleaned up everything before leaving. I also have a front porch that has settled, and they will be taking care of this as well.

Company President Will McCuen and his team responded to our calls promptly and were always on time. They are EXPERTS in what they do - combining the art and science of slab adjustments. They explained fully what they were going to do and did it on time and at the estimated cost. We received another estimate for this job and it was $2000 LESS than what Will quoted. But the other company did not inspire confidence and they said we would need to tear up (and later, replace) the hardwood floor in our bedroom and tile floor in our bathroom where the slab was sinking. Instead, Will was able to drill small holes and do patches of the areas damaged. So the resulting cost may actually have been less expensive than the competitor.

Slab Science uses a polyurethane foam, not concrete, to lift sunken slab. They drill small holes through the slab and pump in the liquid polyurethane. It hardens very quickly. Very clean job. They were able to lift the slab to grade within the cost estimate of only filing the void. Very nice, responsive and professional crew. Highly recommended.

I looked on Home Advisor to find a company to repair my sidewalk and found great reviews for Slab Science. (I'm not an Angie's List subscriber.) One of its representatives contacted Slab Science. Will McCuen called me within a day and asked me to send pictures of the sinking sidewalk and front stoop. I sent them and he told me that he could repair it and gave me a price quote that evening. The price was a quarter of the price of having the sidewalk replaced and the entire job only took one day. Will and I exchanged several emails regarding the details of the project and he told me he could also add a pipe for drainage at an extra cost, and I agreed. We then arranged a repair date for approximately a week later. As the date approached, it turns out rain was expected the entire day, so Will emailed to find out if the following day was acceptable for the work. I agreed and he came that day and was still there with the woman who works with him when I returned from work. He'd had another worker off sick that day, so the project took a few more hours than had been projected.
The sidewalk was in great condition before Will came. The only issue was that it had dropped several inches, causing a trip hazard and making the step from the stoop to the porch too high. I had contacted other contractors before I found Slab Science, but  they either did not return my calls, did not show up or said the entire walk would have to be torn up and replaced, at a cost of $3,400.
I was impressed by the way Will kept me informed and responded quickly to any questions I had prior to having the project completed. He and his co-worker were also very pleasant when I arrived home and even played with my dog!
The sidewalk and stoop look great and are now safe, for a cost the fraction of what it would have been to replace them. I would recommend this company to anyone with a similar issue. I've seldom worked with any contractor who is as responsive, prompt and just plain nice as Will and his employee at Slab Science.

They completed the repair in 1 day and it was usable that same day; were punctual, friendly, professional, and their work comes with a warranty.  I was never able to get any concrete contractors to come and give a quote.  But I know the process was a lot cleaner and more timely than removing and replacing the driveway would have been.
