"[Member Name Removed], Thank you for your review. Bentley's always welcomes and appreciates feedback from all our customers. In response to your concerns let us first say that Bentley's gave you a discounted service call of $65 for being an Angie's List customer. Our normal service fee is $85. As every repair is different we can only give general pricing over the phone. After reviewing the dispatch notes from your initial call, we see that the dispatcher asked you to turn your unit off so that it would not be frozen when our technician came out. It is our standard procedure to ask every customer who has a unit that is not cooling properly to turn that unit off. We explain to the customer that the reason for this is that if the unit is frozen when the technician arrives he will not be able to make necessary repairs. The dispatcher did explain this to you and noted it. Because your unit was not turned off when our technician arrived it had frozen. With ice on the unit our technician was not able to make any repairs at the time. This resulted in the technician coming back to your house after hours on the same day as your initial call to make the repairs. Once the technician could diagnose the problem, he did explain to you what repairs needed to be made and gave you an estimated repair cost before he did anything. The variable with the repair cost was that unit he started to recharge the refrigerant there was no way to know exactly how much Freon the unit needed. However, he did explain all of this to you beforehand and your approved to proceed with the repair. As a heating and air business in their busiest season of the year, when we must make return visits to a customer's home through no fault of our own - it is necessary to charge a service fee for every visit. It is industry standard procedure that payment is due in full once work is completed. This does not just apply to heating and air companies but to any company that would come to your home and provide service. We hope that we have address all your concerns to your satisfaction. If not please feel free to contact us at [Hyperlink removed] or call the office at 864.263.3611."
