Tricare was very pleasant on the phone and took the time to look up the information for me. It was very helpful.
The two cons of Tricare is that you need to make sure that you get a referral from your primary care physician when going to doctor's appointments and that the doctor's that I go to and love do not carry Tricare. Very frustrating.

Besides normal routine medical care, Tricare Prime Remote provided insurance for my daughter's dance injury. When we were unable to get an accurate diagnosis and care in Asheville, they paid for us to take her out of state to Rockville, MD to a specialist familiar with dancers and dance injuries. Thank you for providing the medical help we needed to get her back on her feet and dancing again.

I've been using Tricare North for a couple of years and recently switched to Tricare Standard when I got pregnant in 2011. Standard allowed me the freedom to choose a doctor in town rather than an assigned doctor at an MTF. The process to switch to Standard was painful and confusing but eventually got done. Tricare has a strange way of negotiating copays, I never know what I will pay until I get my bill and COB after my appointment, perhaps its a way to keep people from seeing providers unless it is absolutely necessary. I wish copays were a set amount like other insurance companies ($10, $15 or $20) instead of anywhere from $6 to $149 like I regularly see. It is government healthcare however so I guess I have to deal with it!

Everything goes really smoothly for me. I had no problem with them. The medical bills get sent to them and I never see a bill.

I cannot complain when I hear what others have to pay for co-pays. Tricare prefers generic brands, some of which don't work real well. The only problem I have with Tricare is getting to speak with a customer service representative when you have questions with a claim. The processed claims normally arrive about the time I receive providers bill.
