He skimmed, added shock(which was ours), added flocculant, and vacuumed. I will add the he was observed vacuuming while walking on top of our resin pool rails!! It clearly states do NOT stand on these rails. As best I can tell- debris was removed BUT water is still very cloudy and full of pollen. You can barely see the bottom if at all. He said he could keep coming back to back flush the filter but it would cost more. NOT at all what we expected. He also said that the bill would be $400 or more now. Told him that my husband would be furious. He sent invoice...I guess since I complained he ended up charging us the $300 he originally quoted. When we cleared the water....we ended up having to vaccum b/c he left areas of debris still in the pool. Would not recommend!!!
Response from The Pool Official
"The Pool Official first wants to address that his name is Marcos, not Carlos. Not every Hispanic male is named Carlos, that is highly offensive. Now to address the actual work done: 1) Standing on the resin walls - he stood on the braces where it was made to hold weight. He noted this in his notes because he had no where to stand to vacuum; there is no pool decking at all. 2) The quote was for $400 and the customer was charged $300 - we stayed within their budget. 3) Yes, the customer's shock was used in order to keep the costs lower. If we used our shock, it would have been another charge. It is quite simple, when a customer authorizes only a certain price range to be completed then that is all that is completed. If the customer wanted the pool to be completely clear, then the budget would have to reflect that. The job was not completed, also noted in Marcos's notes, because "customer did not authorize further work". It is the simple of notion of you get what you pay for. The pool required clean-up because it had not been tended to in some time and clean-up requires hours of attention and potentially a substantial quantity of chemicals. We find over and over that individuals who have not tended to their pools and require a clean-up fail to understand what that really means. A clean-up does not happen in 2 hours with a few cups of chemicals. It is also to be noted that Ms. [Member Name Removed] thanked Marcos numerous times for his work and attention to her pool, so when this review was received The Pool Official was quite surprised."

I called and explained our problem, and he said he could come on Monday. He did not explain his fees until late in the conversation. When I heard this,  I asked that he call my husband, as he had done some preliminary work to repair the spa, and could be more specific about what was needed. He agreed to call but did not.  He came without approval, and did part of the repair but did not actually complete the repair. He sent an invoice for $227 for 1.5 hours work.
Response from The Pool Official
"No matter when our fees are discussed either start or end of conversation, the homeowner holds the authorization at all times. We do not come out unless authorized, two days passed between their phone call and us coming out. Authorization could have been pulled during that time, but was not. We feel our company was pulled into a marital disagreement. The husband wanted to speak with us, but we have never heard from him. We were not allowed to complete the repair because the customer never called back to let us know how to proceed. After several days we issued an invoice. They were quite unhappy with the invoice price, even after knowing our prices. We actually reduced the service call fee by 50% to allow the price to drop to $172.50. When they were advised of this they again failed to respond. The Pool Official stands by their good work ethic and disagreements within a household have no baring on our pricing. This customer knew our pricing prior to our arriving, if the husband needed to be involved in this repair then we should have heard from the husband. We are sorry for the customer’s unhappiness, that is why we reduced their balance due. The Pool Official has email confirmation that which they stated, “we are happy to pay for the work performed, but we take issue with the service call fee”. It is simply a household disagreement and a budget that The Pool Official was unaware of."

He called us back immediately.  Came out the next day, assessed our situation - took care of our pool problems, he offered us his monthly service which has been great for the past 5 months.  I highly recommend him,  he knows exactly what he's doing.

I changed the motor for my pool pump. The motor was pulsating and I could not find the cause. Checked all gaskets and had no air leaks that I could find. After seek advice from others and still no resolution, I found Marcos on Angie's List and called him. He returned my call within a reasonable time. He is very professional and personable.
Marcos came within a day of my call and fixed the problem. Fortunately the problem turned out to be something very minor and a quick fix.
Highly recommend Marcos (The Pool Official).

Can't say enough good things about Marcos. Very professional, detail oriented and punctual. Returned called promptly, set up an appt for the next day. I wasn't able to maintain pool over the winter due to a knee injury and it was in pretty bad shape. Marcos gave me a fair price to clean, sanitize and get the pool up to speed. Made four trips and had the pool looking great.

I have dealt with numerous "pool specialists" over the years, Marcos is certainly one of the best. I would highly recommend the Pool Official.

They are fantastic. He changed the piping from to pool to the pump to make it withstand better in the winter. If the pool starts to appear a little bit green, they want to know it right away. So you can call them and they would come out real quick and take care of it.

He's not just very good; he's excellent. He does what he says he'll do right away, and he and his wife get back to you immediately. I haven't had the first bit of problem of them, and in fact, they've provided me with the best overall customer service experience I've ever had. I can't recommend them highly enough!
