A family member needed a new HVAC unit, and Walter and his team exceeded our expectations. We explained the importance of having central heat and air as soon as humanly possible but needed an unconventional approach. We needed a change agent. We were requesting consideration because we could not afford the total costs associated with the traditional methods of purchasing a new system. Exhausted, and thinking outside of the box, to help meet the need for heating a home during this winter season, we thought of purchasing a unit. We qualified to buy a unit but did not follow through until we could find that one person — just one who would take a risk and help a family in need. Angie’s List was our absolute go-to. We stepped out on faith, believing that we would find someone with a heart of compassion, understanding that this was a complete liability. Without hesitation, Walter accepted the task at hand, he was indeed our change, writing an estimate the same day and in record-breaking time. He simultaneously worked to help identify the unit and appropriate specifications so that we would not make an inaccurate purchase. He orchestrated the entire project from start to finish, keeping a constant line of communication. Walter knew when the unit arrived, dates that he would be available for installation, and timely follow-ups. On the day of service, we received a call; it was Walter, and the crew was en route. We were encouraged it was surreal, it took the unit one week to reach Charleston, and installed day two after the delivery. My situation, I must admit, is a little unorthodox. My unit stopped working entirely about two years ago. I was not in a financial position to repair it. I endured over two years of not having heating or cooling in my home, which resulted in two bouts of pneumonia. I had not shared this with any family member until this year. Fortunately, that family member offered to assist with financing. We contacted several companies for an estimate, but each had various financing options that were not a good fit. We were at our wits’ end questioning if there was anything that they could do, even offering to break payments up until paid in full. Then they could proceed with the install, and the companies contacted had no such possibility and understandably so. Thus, we turned to what we believed to be the final option with a limited budget. We brainstormed and searched for companies that sold the unit that we needed and qualified via Bread. We then turned to Angie’s list believing in our hearts that someone would work with us to get this system installed. Angie’s list gave four recommendations; the first three said they could not, but there was something about the fourth company. He came out to my home in less than two hours from taking my call, and I discerned that he knew our family needed help like never before. We told him what we had been quoted from other companies to replace the entire unit. For that, my family and I are forever grateful.

The location of my home makes it difficult to find technicians and repair companies that will respond. C&RHA worked a longer than normal schedule to ensure my family had heat in this crisis. Having little knowledge of HVAC units, Commercial & Residential Air talked me through the repair, gave me tip and pointers on maintenance and owner upkeep. They were Prompt, Courteous and Professional in every sense of the way.
