Well... At this point, approximately 50 - 60 percent of my lawn has died. The thousands of dollars that I spent with this company are poof.... Up in smoke. Gone.
I asked them to stop servicing my lawn approximately 4th quarter of 2015when it was apparent that what they were doing wasn't helping.
Another thing. The owner specifically told me to change my sprinkler settings. He told me to sprinkle one time per week, very heavy, starting in the middle of the night. I don't know if that hurt my lawn. But, the most common advice for sprinkling is no earlier than 6AM. And, most advice on the internet is that watering at night can lead to fungus and disease.
Thus far this year, 2016, I've spent about $1000 on nutrients. I have had a local horticulturalist come in and help me figure out what to do about the soil and lawn. It will probably take 18 - 24 months to re-establish the lawn that I had before Coastal Turf squandered it. It's sad. It's depressing. And, it's a shame that a company would allow this to happen to a client.
I'm glad to see that everyone else who writes a review has glowing commentary. But, my experience was much different, and I would encourage you to think very hard before spending your hard earned money with this company.
"I am very disappointed to read a review like this but also puzzled at your complete surprise. Back in March of 2007 you and I met and walked your lawn before you became customer. As we walked I explained areas of your lawn that would eventually decline due to shade and tree root competition. I know this was a long time ago and difficult to remember but I still have the written documentation to support this. You stopped service with us at the end of 2008. In 2013 you called me personally to ask if you could become a customer again because you had tried others and we had gotten the best results. I agree that some decline has been seen in some areas but also much improvement in other areas. One of the times I stopped by your home in July of last year I walked the lawn and emailed you my findings/concerns/recommendations. I noticed a flock of approximately 30 geese residing in your lawn and the known problems associated with their presence and trying to have a nice lawn. Your emailed response was that the geese invade the yard on a daily basis and that it goes hand in hand with living on a duck pond. I had not seen them in the lawn before that day but it is not a coincidence that most of the lawn problems were in the same areas. I also provided watering instructions for you and in my 21 years in this industry I have never told any customer to water at night as it can introduce fungus. I always tell customers that there is no 1 way to give watering instructions. Watering instructions will change due to turf conditions, soil type, time of year, rainfall, sunlight exposure, slope, etc. This means watering instructions can change from day to day and week to week. I also remember on one of my visits that we met and went through your irrigation system because you were able to turn on and make adjustments from your phone. It is sad. It disappoints me that we were not able to meet or exceed your expectations. I try very hard to set realistic expectations for each and every customer I speak with. I also work daily to educate my team about doing things the right way. I spend much of my time with customers explaining the importance of proper cultural practices and how having a nice lawn is truly partnership. My recommendation is that you change grass types to either Empire or Palisades Zoysia as I have suggested in the past. Both of these grass types are more tolerant of the shady conditions you have in parts of your lawn although not a shade loving grass. These grass types naturally get fewer of the insect and disease problems we have in the Lowcountry. The existing centipede grass in the areas of decline can no longer survive in that environment. If you still have the geese problem it will still be difficult to attain the type of success you would like to achieve with your lawn. I truly hope you like the company you have hired. I would like for you to have the type of success you want and deserve for your lawn."
