Showed up on time and were very professional. Only minor gripe is the quality of wood. A lot of it was irregularly shaped and some of it was really long so it didn’t fit in the fireplace without cutting it again

I own houses in Summerville but live somewhere else so I had neighbors give a good referral for Big Head Chuck. The price was good. On the first job with the pine tree one of his workers was killed, yes he died, very sad, you can google the story. On the second job they cut the tree but threw all the branches behind the fence. I never imagined to check behind the fence to see if they did not remove the debris. My tenant told months later that they removed a section of fence and just took all the debris out behind the fence that re-erected the fence. I have contacted Chuck several times but the debris is still behind the fence.

"I know this is a delayed response to this rating, had to concentrate on the family, work and employees. I think it is very distasteful of you to put this on your review! Even the news had enough respect to not advertise the company name in such a grieving moment for all!!! It was a great tragedy and an accident that we lost a worker and a friend. If you didn't like what happened or the work we did you wouldn't have hired us for more work. We came to an agreement to put the debris behind the fence where no one was living BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T WANT TO PAY TO HAVE IT REMOVED! You state and I quote "my tenants found it months later, that's BS, so they just happened to think months later that you should know about this????? As for you contacting our company to remove the agreed upon debris YOU ARE A BIG FAT LIAR!!! DO NOT understand why you would feel the need to make this review more than a year after the fact (work completed 07/2016-review 10/2017) For everyone who reads this I hope you disregard his review, he crossed the line and that was EXTREMELY UNCALLED FOR! OH FYI I contacted Angie's List for some discretion with this and they basically told me that people can say what they want on here, they own what they say and Angie's List can't do anything about it, SO BEWARE OF WHAT YOU READ, IT'S NOT ALWAYS THE TRUTH"

We called this company, and after several other tree services, Big Head Chucks gave us the best estimate. They were very pleasant, answering all my questions. About 6 or 7 men came to remove two large, tall trees from near our house. They worked from 8:30 AM to about 6:00PM cutting, cleaning, and stump removing, on a very hot day. They were professional, taking their time making sure the trees fell the right way, once they were cut down. They cleaned everything up and hauled it away. We were very pleased with Big Head Chucks service and price. You do not have to pay until job is done correctly. The contract has a signature section that you sign, once you have inspected the site and pay, guaranteeing a great job. Thanks a million!!!

No one expects to have contractors exceed their expectations, but that is exactly what Big Head Chuck's company did. They arrived when they said they would, the crew were polite and even fun! The explained every detail. Worked non-stop in this hot July weather. Came back the next day since we added another tree to take down due to finding out it was damaged and rotting. At 7:00 am I heard the buzz of the chain saw and looked out my window to find them at the top of a 60 ft tree and working away. Unbelievable customer service. I can't say enough about this company. Other than the sawdust from the stump grinding you would never know they had been here... Everything was cleaned up and left like they found it. Minus the trees. This tree service ROCKS!!!

Great service and I'd highly recommend. Very professional. They cleaned up all the debris in our yard and the neighbors yard. I obtained 4 different estimates and they had the price.

The tree trimming went well but they did not finish one tree in the front. I specifically wanted that tree trimmed so it wouldn't hang over the driveway. I mentioned it to the foreman before they left and he said they were trying to make the shape of the tree look nice, to give a nice appearance to the front yard. Later, the owner came by for a walk-through and I told him I was not happy about it. He assured me he would send someone back to take care of it. It has been almost two months and they have not been back. First I got excuses and then he stopped responding altogether. Also, when they trimmed some vines, they damaged my chain link fence. I mentioned it to him and he has not offered to do anything to fix it or pay for it to be fixed.
The original work was good but their customer service is terrible. They do not keep their word nor do they care about the customer. Typical situation where they got paid and that's the last you'll hear from them.

I called to get an estimate. He said he would be out the next day. I waited around all day but he never showed nor did I ever get a phone call. I called 2 other tree companies. About a week later I called him back to give the benifit of the doubt, or possibly see what happened. He apologized and said he would come by the very next day. Well..... that never happened.
I can't speak about his work nor if his price is reasonable because I have nothing to go by. I can say that he stood me up and never even called me to say he wasn't coming..... TWICE. I personally don't have time to sit around all day waiting on someone to not even show. My time is valuable and the fact that he doesn't seem to care makes his business look unprofessional. What's sad is he was recommended to me by some friends on facebook.

This is why I hired Big Head Chuck's Tree Service & Firewood. Earlier this year I wanted to have some large maple trees removed from our backyard and have the stumps ground down. The trees were located on opposite sides of the house. These trees were out of control and showed signs of dying. I was afraid they would eventually fall and strike our house under the right bad weather conditions. Not to mention the roots were destroying the ground around the base of the trees. In addition to the maple trees, I had a couple of smaller trees that had grown up against the fence line I wanted taken care as well. While trying to find someone to do the work I called many phone numbers only to find the numbers disconnected and apparently no longer in business. The few companies I was able to get a hold of and who agreed to come out for an estimate never showed up. The people that gave me an estimate were either too expensive, or they couldn't do the job. A couple people gave me the creeps, were inexperienced, or appeared to be a fly-by-night business. Then I contacted Chuck Lester at Big Head Chuck's Tree Service & Firewood. Chuck came to my home and we talked about what I wanted done. He walked around my backyard and surveyed the job. Chuck told me about the company and let me know that they carry workman's compensation insurance and liability insurance along with the proper licensing to assure property owners of his commitment to his work. He also made a sketch of the work to be done. After a short visit we agreed on a wonderful price. I asked if he took credit cards. I was advised they accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Debit, Cash & Check. Chuck said he would call me to setup a time to start the work. On November 11th, the crew arrived on time and removed the two big trees and some smaller ones. The ground was soggy from a recent rain. After finishing for the day the crew cleaned up and placed all debris on the side of the road to be removed. The crew leader Ray told me they would come back on Friday to grind down the stumps. On Friday, November 13th, the crew returned and completed the job. This company is very reasonably priced, professional, and fair. They are very accommodating. The work crew is dedicated to doing a good job and polite. I will hire Big Head Chuck's Tree Service & Firewood again without hesitation. AWESOME!!!! It is really hard to convey how thankful and happy I am with this service. They were able to connect me with an arborist to assess the trees and understood the requirements to have the permission of both the county and the homeowners association. They reviewed the project and even after finding a 4 ft long beehive within one of the trees, assured me that they were trained to handle it. They contacted a bee keeper and coordinated the relocation of the hive for me. They spent over 6 hours on the job with a crew of at least 8 fully equipped with the equipment and trucks to get the job done. The crew was cheerful, informative, and stayed focused on the job at hand. Both trees were cut down and completely removed without incident (other than a few big stings) Well worth the money! All of the team members were extremely polite and kind in keeping me informed. Amazing service and professional from start to finish. It was an honor to watch the team in action.

Please see above. I had 2 trees with limbs touching my roof. They didn't just remove the offending limbs. They evened the trees up so that they would not be lopsided and pose a hazard to any structure in a wind storm. We had just had a storm 3 nights before and a large limb of a tree in my neighbor's yard had partly broken loose and was tipped down and touching my yard. When I went out back after the crew had left, I saw that they had removed that as well! Above and beyond what they were hired for. It's gratifying to see a company that has such customer service minded people working for them. And the boss wasn't even there! He didn't come by until about an hour later to make sure I was satisfied before I paid him.
I was also impressed with the safety consciousness of the entire crew! The safety steps they used and the teamwork was a marvel.

Chuck had told me on two occasions that he had spoken to the Crowfield Homeowners Association for approval of removal of the two trees. Later on he told me that he did not get a chance to speak with the association. I have now been fined $1,000.00 from the association for not getting the approval for the removal of the trees. I am a senior citizen and will have to take the monies out of my next social security check or else they will place a lien on my home. This company rips off senior citizen. All Beware.....

"On behalf of Big Head Chuck’s Tree Service, we are truly sorry that you incurred fines from the removal of trees from your yard. All of that could have been avoided if you would have taken the proper steps with your HOA. As you said in your certified letter to me, and I quote, I have as of today paid my $1000.00 fine to Crowfield Homeowners Association for taking down two trees without permission of the association. I have since spoken with your HOA along with the City of Goose Creek whom both states it is your sole responsibility to submit an application for approval to your HOA. No one else can do this for the homeowner. I told you that I would ask someone associated with Crowfield if they thought the HOA would give you rights to cut down the tree that was very close to your home, but never said that I was asking approval. After speaking with you a second time I informed you that I had not had time to speak with this person and you should go ahead and follow proper channels. You told me you had received permission from the City of Goose Creek and you were not fooling with the HOA. You say that am ripping you off?!? I gave you a fair price on both trees which you agreed upon. Contract was signed, work was completed and you were happy until you had a run in with your HOA. That is not someone ripping off a senior citizen! You signed a contract stating it was your responsibility to obtain permits at your cost and the company would not be liable for any unforeseen costs accrued due to the work. A copy of your signed contracted with highlighted areas has been included with this letter. We pride ourselves on our good name and have serviced many senior citizens with no complaint."

After year after year of buying firewood on the roadsides in Mt Pleasant and always getting overcharged for green wood that won't burn I looked up firewood suppliers on Angie's List and went to Big Head Chucks. From my experience Big Head Chucks is by far the best place to get firewood.

I talked earlier this week with Chuck about getting some firewood. He informed me that they would deliver on Saturday and that someone would call me at 9 AM and again when they were near my home. Each and everything he promised he delivered. His guys did an excellent jobdelivering and setting up the wood. The quality of the wood is outstanding. Highly recommend them to anyone who's looking for quality firewood. The price was extremely reasonable. We purchased two loads and it cost $200.
