HOMEOWNERS SUPPLIED NEW TILE AND TILE PATTERN, GROUT, QUARTER-ROUND and WOODEN THRESHOLDS. The APEX Contractors provided all labor, nails and nail guns, mastic, and manpower to remove the small amount of old tile left remaining, manpower to move the appliances as needed and did a WONDERFUL JOB on the entire new floor. APEX laid all the new tile, in a BEAUTIFUL DESIGN, grouted all areas, installed the new quarter-round, thresholds and base-boards as required.
APEX Contractor replaced all appliances. Homeowners are COMPLETELY HAPPY with the finale results, thanks to the great job performed by the APEX Contractor men who performed the job!
APEX Contractor provided the bid on Tuesday afternoon, 21 July and started the work on Wednesday morning 22 July 2015 and worked all through the days needed, secured the job site each night, cleaning up each night and on the last day performed a complete cleaning of the entire floor and had a COMPLETELY THOROUGH walk-through with the homeowners on Friday mid-day, staying with the job until completely finishing the job mid-day Friday 24 July 2015. They did not asked for any payment until the job was completely done and inspected and approved by the homeowners.
HE DID EXACTLY WHAT WAS NEEDED AND COMPLETED THE INSTALLATION WHILE HE WAS THERE!
Apex took the bathroom down to the studs and concrete floor and then built a new walk-in shower with built-in marble corner seat and tile floor that matched the larger bathroom floor. They tiled every square inch of wall space in the bathroom, installed new vanity/toilet/towel bars, moved electrical & added additional lighting, added an architectural beam surrounded in very small stone tiles to hold dramatic lighting, and carved an almost 3' long lighted niche into the wall as our main design feature. Paul & his crew tidied up at the end of every day, so we didn't feel like we were living in a messy environment. We're so pleased with the level of work we received that we hope to use Apex for an even bigger upstairs bedroom+bath remodel we want to undertake later this year. Paul's price, while not the cheapest bid, was very fair, and for the pleasant demeanor and can-do attitude he and his crew brought to our home each day, the price was worth it!
They completely gutted our master bathroom, which included removing a wall and small closet. It was falling apart to say the least. We had cracked tile, a corroding tub, rot and water damage behind our shower walls, an uneven floor and the list goes on! Our master bedroom also had an "interesting" tile border and carpet center, which they took up so that we could lay carpet to match the other bedrooms in our house. They laid all new tile(floors, shower, and sink backsplash), converted the bathtub area to a shower, added new plumbing for a double vanity, added french doors to the bathroom (where no doors existed before), created a larger door opening to the linen closet, and installed fixtures, lighting etc. Paul and Nick not only performed this work efficiently and skillfully(in less than 3 weeks!), but also had great insight on design choices, as we were first-timers to a major renovation like this.
They also englarged the openings to closets in our two other bedrooms. These closets are a really nice size, but you couldn't tell because they had a traditional single door on them. They opened these up to 60" and added bifolds/french doors in those rooms. The closets are so much more usable now and look as big as they are.
Their pricing was also very competitive and the best quote we received. They stayed on budget and schedule.
Can't recommend these guys enough!
The project was to renovate a bathroom to improve handicap accessibility to a shower. In the process they would need to determine the source of a water leak and repair any damage it caused. They carefully listened to our needs and met all: a simple attractive and functional design with a reasonable price tag; to cause the least disruption and inconvenience possible in our home and to finish on time - in 7 days!. As in any renovation there were surprises. A second major leak was uncovered resulting in an increase in cost and one additional day. They accomplished all on time and we are delighted with the results. It was a pleasure to have this contractor in our home.
Unfortunately for Paul and his crew, they were walking into a mess left by a previous individual who was unqualified to do the work and had left me with a disaster. You could say this was an episode of HGTV's "Fix my Renovation" . I had to wait six months to save enough to redo everything and then find someone who was willing to do a smaller, lower end job. Paul was willing to accept it and his price quote was 2,400-4,400 less than all other previous quotes I had received. He was also willing to work with me, because I had purchased some things already and what I wanted redone needed to be available at Home Depot or Lowes. Upon initial inspection, he recommended I redo the travertine tile on the floor( it was not level and one could stub their toes on it), gut the hideous tiled tub surround back to studs and redo backer board, make a double niche, and retile with the 6X8 subways and mosaic I had purchases. He would reset my bathroom window correctly ( it had been moved over due to the new tub being two inches wider) and it was now open to the outside and letting in spiders! Initially he also thought we could repair the damaged drywall but then recommended it all be replaced because it would not have been cost effective to try and fix it. This also ensured I had green board where required. He also had to redo some structural work and make it level for the plumbing side of the shower wall. His quote also would include replacing bathroom door, baseboard installation, installing vanity and linen cabinet ( this would require some additional cabinetry work, ie. skin installation, creating a filler pieces and adding crown molding to top of linen tower) electrical work ( Moving two GFI outlets as well as the box for the vanity light, installing said light, installing a ceiling light/fan combo with an auto sensor for humidity that also required rewiring for a 3-way switch) and also setting the toilet in place. He agreed to start the following week. He was actually able to start a day earlier . That worked out perfectly, as I was able to be on hand to answer questions and see what potential problems would arise. The first day they gutted and discovered the shower plumbing had been leaking behind the wall, the mixer valve was no good and the faucet was ruined due to grout imbedded in it from previous work. They also reworked the structural issue on that wall as well so drywall could go up. The next day drywall was installed, plumbing redone in shower and the backer board was going up. Also drywall guy was brought in to do first mud coat. Third day included sanding and doing a second mud coat, floor tile installed that evening, and backer board finished in the shower. By the end of fifth day ,shower was tiled, floor, walls and window were done. On day seven and eight the cabinetry was installed, electrical finished , grouting done, all shower parts ie. faucet, shower head and grab bars installed, door put in and toilet set.
As a side note, on the second day, Paul referred me to the person he used for granite and I was able to get a gorgeous scrap piece installed for way less than Lowes would have charged me.
Paul and his crew were easy to work with, friendly, knowledgeable, honest, always on time, kept the work site clean and if problems arose( and there were numerous unforeseen issues) they were quick to address them with me and find a timely and reasonably priced solution. They even went out of there way to pick up the door and tile for me. I will definitely be using them again for future home remodeling projects.
His crew arrived and quickly began to cut and remove the old tile and shower pan and liner. He pointed out the mistakes that were made and why the shower was leaking. He also explained what the team was doing and what needed to be done to bring the shower up to code. These guys did a fantastic job, they went all the way to the sub floor and worked on each layer until the last tile was set.
I have to say, it was quite a relief to get this done. Paul and his crew were nothing less than amazing. They were able to remove only what needed to be removed, and tied in the old travertine tile with the new seamlessly. The crew cleaned up and made it look like nothing ever happened. I'm very impressed with the company and would highly recommend them. They took a very stressful, expensive situation and turned it into a top notch installation. I am very happy with the work that was done.
