I took my rescue puppy to Petsmart for training and socialization. She went through the puppy course first, and was then invited to continue with the next level right away rather than waiting a month or so. The trainer was excellent, and even allowed my puppy who was one month past the cut off into the puppy class instead of the regular beginner class because she is such a small breed. The trainer was patient and kind, and used a lot of hands on examples to show how a dog learns best. Lots of practice time, and individual questions were always answered. My puppy still has a lot of practicing to do, but she is already more well behaved in general. The tips and ideas really help with continuing the training at home. They even helped my older dog learn some better manners!

My dog and I attended dog training at Petsmart several years ago and it went fine - lots of fun. That dog has since passed away and I recently adopted another dog, who I promptly enrolled once again in Petsmart training. I paid for the training in advance over the phone with a credit card. Before the training began, I cancelled due to some other family conflicts.
When I called to cancel I asked for a refund and they would not refund my credit card over the phone. When I asked why (since they TOOK my money over the phone), they said I would have to come to the store - it was and quot;just their policy.and quot;
So I had to take the time to drive to the store and obtain the refund. When I asked if it was a store or company policy, they said it was company policy. I responded that it was a poor business decision to treat their customers in that manner.
I had planned to reenroll my dog but after that incident I will not. I have since enrolled in another training class with another company. I have spent many, many dollars at this store and I will not return.

They provide the best service. Their care for the older dogs is exceptional. He is a high strung dog over 10-years old. For the older dogs, they never put them in a kennel to get their stress level down. They also do not use muzzles. Before I leave, they take your phone number and ask how long it would be for me to get back. Then they call you when it is about that much time until they will be done. If I would not be back before they are done, they play with him until I get there.

The dog trainer, Debbie, is amazing! Debbie is firm, understanding, patient and knowledgeable. She expects the best from the humans and animals...but that is what pet training is about, consistency and expectations. Debbie models how to train the animal, has the human try it with their pet as she watches and provides feedback to the owner, then has the owner try the training technique alone with their pet.
