Our experience with John was terrible from start to finish. To begin with John never really listened to what we wanted. As the Job began we kept bumping into details that he either missed or had to re do because he did not listen to us when we talked to him. We could tell when we were talking to him that all he was thinking about was what he wanted to do next or what he needed to say, even when he had asked us a question and was expecting an answer. After we had an agreement to start the job and the demolition was completed, John came to us and said that he forgot to quote the labor for the floor and that he would need to increace the price of the job by $500. When we hesitated he threatened to walk. Seeing that we had already paid him half down as a deposit as he required we were forced to cave in and let him continue to work. As the job continued we noticed some unusual things happening. After nearly five days of work there was very little done (he had quoted us 4 days for the entire job). He was dry laying our bathroom floor (which we found out later was not the way that anyone recomended to put down a tile floor) and was not finished after 4 days of cutting. The shower pan and the permaboard was installed on the shower walls but no tile was down. My wife and I were running some errands on Friday and I called John about some detail work we were having done on the shower floor. We were not in agreement on the details so I told him to wait to install the floor until I got home (about 5 min). When I got home I found him putting down thinset and placing tile (I had asked him to wait). When I asked him about the detail pieces we were placing in the floor he told me that we had never talked about this before and got very angry. At this time he told his assistant to stop working and started pulling tile and thinset up off the floor of the shower. He told me that this job was no longer working for him and that we were continuously chaging the job so we neded to find someone else to finish. Later we found out that John already had another job planed for the Monday after he walked out (I saw him at the tile store Monday morning picking up tile). Fortunetly I did not pay him the other $500 he asked for on Friday morning, now realizing that he had no intention of finishing my job. The job we were asking him to do never changed, all of the detail work he was suposed to do was in the write up of our design plan and we had talked about it numerous times during the quoting process as well as when the job started. John's lack of orgainization and attention to detail as well as his inability to listen caused him to constantly miss things. We had to escort him from our home and then hold him back as he tried to re enter our home after we specifically told him not to. We had to physically remove him from our home a second time after he pushed back my wife. John showed a blatant disrespect for us and our home. John left me with a shower pan that needed to be re surfaced because it was not level and did not slope correctly, shower walls that were not correctly waterproofed, and a large ammount of worthless cut tile that could not be used. He will never set foot on another piece of property either I or anyone else in my family.
Description of Work: Was hired to tear out our marble shower surround and the old tile floor in our master bath and install both a new shower and floor.
