It took a while to get them out to the house but when they arrived, they said they couldn't hook it up without the plumbing (the hole had not been cut). Rather than argue with him, I called the project manager and asked him to tell the Dean Electric representative that in fact the plumbing was in the wall. After that, the technician went about to change the vent-a-hood to blow outside. Then he cut the hole and installed the vent-a-hood. The technician said it was all fixed and left. When I checked it, the intake speed was so low you could hardly tell it was on. I called the project manager and reported it to him. He got in touch with the manager at Dean Electric, Kenny, and had him come out. He took the vent a hood down and looked at things then turned around and looked me in the eye and told me it was working properly. Next I called GE. A technician came out and said that I was right, it wasn't working correctly. He took the vent-a-hood and called me over. He showed me where Dean Electric had used silver tape to block one half of the exit plumbing. He put the vent-a-hood back in place and told me to call Dean Electric. I called the project manager to report the findings. The Project Manager came with Dean Electric and asked Kenny to take down the vent-a-hood. There was the tape. The project manager asked why it was there and found out that there was a stud in the middle of the exit pipe. The project manager showed Kenny that the hole had been cut in the wrong place and by cutting it in the right place it worked perfectly. The Dean Electric representative lied to me directly when he told me that the vent a hood was working correctly. I can't trust him and therefore I will never have him in my house again.
Description of Work: We bought a new house in June 2014. Dean Electric had installed all the appliances including the HVAC for the builder. We had included in the contract specifically that the vent-a-hood would be vented to the outside. It was not, the plumbing was there but it wasn't hooked up correctly. We contacted the project manager and he said he would get Dean Electric out here to fix it.
