I hired Jimmy Boyd, (JD Boyd), on May 19, 2019, to take down 3 trees in my Mom's yard, as I was visiting for a few days. This was a Sunday afternoon around 4 pm. We agreed on a price and JD assured me that he would show up with his crew at 10 am the next morning, Monday, May 20, 2019, and would be finished by Tuesday afternoon. He also agreed to cut the stumps even to the ground and remove all logs from the property. He also agreed to pile the limbs on the side of the road, making sure they were no longer than 6 feet in length, so the town would pick them up. (A requirement from the town of Seneca, SC) JD did not show up Monday morning at 10 am as agreed. I called him several times, his voice mail was full. I left him several messages. No return calls. Around 4:45 pm, Monday afternoon, I left him a text that I was canceling our agreement. He showed up 15 minutes later with one guy, no "crew." He had no good excuse for not showing up that morning but assured me that If I let them start right then, that they would be finished no later than the next day before dark, Which was Tuesday, May 21, 2019. I reluctantly agreed. They cut one tree down that afternoon and JD said he would be on the job first thing the next morning with his crew and would finish up that day. Well, He did show up at 7:15 am Tuesday morning but with only one guy, no "crew." And around 9:30 am, he dropped a limb on the power line going to the house. Fortunately, no one was injured. We had to call the power company, Seneca Light and Water, to come out and reconnect the power line. They showed up around 10:30 am. JD and his one guy left and did not return until around 1 pm. Needless to say, they did not finish the job on Tuesday. JD knew that I had to leave for home that night, as I was only visiting my Mom for a few days. He asked if I would pay him for the job and he assured me that they would finish up the next day, Wednesday, May 22, 2019. I agreed to pay him half and would let my Mom's neighbor hold a check for the balance due to be paid once the job was completed and all logs and debris removed from the yard. As of May 28, 2019, the job was not complete. The trees were down but logs and debris were not removed. I called my Mom's neighbor to see if he had heard from JD. He told me that he had and that JD had been harassing him so badly over the balance of payment due, that he gave him the check just to get rid of him. Today is June 6, 2019. I have tried to reach JD several times by voice mail and text with no response. So I will end up paying someone else to clean up JD's mess.
